Customer Reviews
We have been seeing Dr Hsu for several years. We even moved to NJ and still make the trek to see him since he’s so good. He's always been very patient and explains things well. He sometimes also does the cleanings and is very gentle, as is Luis, one of the hygienists.
We hadn't been in a while because I'm severely immunocompromised and get sick very easily. Since masking protocols have dropped most places, we were hesitant to make a visit. I was happy to find that Dr Hsu is still masking. He cleaned and examined my wife's teeth and wore an n95.
The hygienist that cleaned my teeth, Luis, put a second mask on over his surgical mask when I said I was immunocompromised (I couldn't tell what it was...I can't see well without my glasses). He also pointed out the location of the air purifiers they have running in all the examination rooms and we saw one in the lobby as well.
All other staff were wearing masks. Some surgical, others looked to be kn95 or n95. We also received a text before hand asking people to wear a mask and the patients we saw come in were abiding by that.
They also have half walls for the exam rooms and the doors don't close, which is good for air quality/flow. My highest Aranet reading was 883, when I was in the exam room. If you're not familiar with this tech, basically this number tells you how much "backwash breath" is in the air. Anything below 1000 means the room has pretty good/clear air filtration (as a comparison, it's usually a 500-600 reading outside).
All in all, I was happy (but not surprised! At the added layers of protection the office has continued to observe. The staff, hygienists and dentists are all kind, competent and patient humans.
I would highly recommend this office.
Very happy with the three cleanings and check-ups I've had from Dr. Hsu and his staff. Would definitely recommend to family and friends. Office is nice with great technology to assist in procedures and they have screens mounted on ceiling to help pass the time during cleaning.
My only minor gripe would be that there is always a smoke detector doing the low battery chirp every time I've come here. Been coming here for almost 2 years and I've heard it every time. Does this not drive the staff crazy?
I just had the best dental cleaning experience ever! From the moment I walked in, the receptionist was warm and welcoming, making the check-in process a breeze. The dental hygienist was thorough and gentle, ensuring I felt comfortable throughout the cleaning. My teeth have never felt more clean! Highly recommend this practice for anyone looking for exceptional service!
I had a cleaning there with Dr. Bernstein.
His bedside manner was absolutely awesome. Explained everything thoroughly.
He did the cleaning himself, which is great (not a dental hygienist). Painless. First painless cleaning I've had.
Really awesome experience, and I've been going to dentists my entire life.
He makes sure you understand everything
As a new patient, I was quite disappointed with my experience at this place today.
Upon arrival, no dentist or doctor showed up. Instead, a hygienist—whom I initially thought was the dentist—began the X-ray procedure without introducing himself or explaining the cost and necessity of the exam. The entire procedure was poorly conducted, and the method used by the hygienist caused significant discomfort several times. Despite expressing multiple times that I wanted to skip the exam, the hygienist insisted I continue rather than respecting my wish to stop.
The X-ray was described as a “comprehensive” examination, yet I received no detailed analysis based on it. All I saw were a few pictures of my teeth on the screen, with no explanation of what made the exam comprehensive. In my previous dental experiences, especially as a chronic periodontal patient, the examination typically includes an assessment of my periodontal pocket, which was entirely missing here.
After the uncomfortable X-ray exam, the same hygienist performed the regular cleaning, which was the primary reason for my visit. However, the cleaning lasted less than 20 minutes and only involved basic flossing and a simple polish.
As a chronic periodontal patient who has lived in several cities across Europe, Asia, and the US, I have visited many dental clinics around the world and in New York, and unfortunately, this was the most unsatisfactory and unprofessional dental visit I have ever experienced.
