About

Empire Pediatric Dentistry, located at 365 West 25th Street in the heart of Chelsea, Manhattan, New York, NY 10001, stands as a premier destination for children's dental care in the bustling NYC metropolitan area. Established by renowned pediatric dentist Dr. Alice Lee, alongside her husband and practice partner Dr. Ron Chang, this state-of-the-art practice has been delivering exceptional, child-centered dental services for over 15 years, fostering lifelong habits of oral health in a safe, welcoming, and fun environment.[1][4] From its inception, Empire Pediatric Dentistry has been driven by a profound mission: to treat not just the teeth, but the child as a whole, creating positive, nurturing experiences that transform dental visits from dreaded appointments into joyful adventures. This holistic philosophy sets the practice apart, emphasizing emotional well-being alongside clinical excellence, particularly for children with special needs, including those who are autistic or have sensory sensitivities.[1][3]

Dr. Alice Lee, the founding visionary, brings a wealth of expertise shaped by her dual roles as a specialist in pediatric dentistry and a devoted mother. With specialty training in pediatric dentistry, she is an active member of the prestigious American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and contributes significantly to the field through resident education, training the next generation of pediatric dentists, and conducting cutting-edge research in pediatric dentistry.[4] Her affiliation with the renowned Craniofacial Center at The Children's Hospital at Montefiore underscores her commitment to complex cases, ensuring that Empire Pediatric Dentistry is equipped to handle even the most challenging dental needs with compassion and precision.[4] Dr. Lee's personal touch is evident in patient stories, where she personally follows up to rebuild trust after difficult experiences, demonstrating an unwavering dedication to family satisfaction.[3]

Complementing Dr. Lee is Dr. Ron Chang, whose unique journey adds depth to the practice's expertise. Raised in Northern California, Dr. Chang initially pursued a degree in Aerospace Engineering from San Jose State University and worked in the commercial airline industry before pivoting to dentistry. He earned his dental degree from New York University College of Dentistry, completed a General Practice Residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn—where he was selected as Chief Resident—and specialized further in pediatric care.[4][6] Together, as parents themselves, Drs. Lee and Chang have designed their brand-new, eco-conscious office to prioritize family comfort, featuring bright, happy spaces from entrance to exam room that elicit smiles rather than tears, even amid challenges like the ongoing pandemic.[1][3] Flexible office hours make scheduling effortless for busy NYC families, while the location at the corner of 9th Avenue ensures easy accessibility.[2]

What truly distinguishes Empire Pediatric Dentistry is its unique value proposition: a fusion of advanced clinical skills, specialized training for pediatric and special needs care, and an unyielded focus on joy in dentistry. Unlike general practices, every doctor here holds specialty training in pediatric dentistry, enabling tailored attention that addresses individual needs—whether routine check-ups for infants or complex procedures like root canals, bridges, extractions, crowns, and fillings for older children.[1][6] Patient reviews rave about the kid-friendly atmosphere, gentle techniques, and high-quality outcomes, with children reporting no pain post-procedure and parents praising the staff's professionalism and understanding of sensory issues.[3][6] The practice welcomes new smiles always, providing comprehensive care from infancy to early adulthood in a fun, family-friendly setting that recognizes the whole child.[1]

Empire Pediatric Dentistry's commitment extends beyond the chair; it's about building confidence and healthy smiles for life. By integrating research, education, and parental empathy, the practice not only meets but exceeds expectations in a competitive NYC landscape, earning consistent 4.5+ star ratings and loyalty from families across the city. Whether it's a first dental visit or ongoing care for special needs, Empire Pediatric Dentistry promises an experience where children leave excited for their next visit, equipped with the tools for lifelong oral health.[1][3][4] This dedication to excellence, rooted in over 15 years of service, positions Empire as the go-to NYC children's dentist for unparalleled pediatric dental care.

Dr. Lee was basically our fairy god-dentist! We went here for a second opinion and I chose this practice based on location and insurance coverage. So I was BEYOND pleasantly surprised when Dr. Lee shared her holistic approach that involved knowledge about jaw development, tongue ties, proper airway development, and how that’s all related to dental health. Dr. Lee’s recommendations for my child’s dental issues were much more practical and less invasive than the previous provider. I had to travel a state over for appointments, but it was well worth. The entire staff was friendly and kind to my children. It was a consistently good experience. Definitely recommend.

We recently visited Dr. Annie Herman Perel and had a very good and professional experience. Dr. Herman provided an outstanding attention and we felt confident with her treatment. She is warm, empathetic, very patient and bilingual in Spanish-English allowing easy communication. We also believe that Dr. Herman genuinely cares for her patients well-being. We highly recommend her!
