About

Dental Specialty Associates, PC, located at 225 Broadway, Suite 101, in the heart of New York City's bustling Financial District, stands as a cornerstone of multi-specialty dental care since its inception on May 1, 1998. With over 26 years of dedicated service as of 2025, this professional corporation has established itself as a comprehensive dental hub, offering an array of specialized treatments all under one convenient roof—a rarity in the competitive New York dental landscape.[1][2][4][5] Founded with a commitment to patient-centered care, the practice emerged during a time when fragmented dental services often required patients to shuttle between specialists, leading to inconvenience and disjointed treatment plans. Dental Specialty Associates addressed this gap by assembling a team of board-certified experts in oral surgery, periodontics, endodontics, orthodontics, and pedodontics, ensuring seamless coordination for complex cases that demand interdisciplinary expertise.[2][4][5][6]

The mission of Dental Specialty Associates is straightforward yet profound: to keep patients' teeth and gums healthy while delivering bright, beautiful smiles through modern, efficient, and comfortable care. This ethos permeates every aspect of their operations, from the state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest sterilization techniques endorsed by the American Dental Association to their emphasis on informed patient decision-making. The practice prioritizes listening to patients' concerns, providing thorough diagnostics, and counseling on preventive strategies, fostering long-term oral health rather than mere reactive treatments.[5] Their goal extends beyond clinical excellence to creating a welcoming environment where dental visits—often dreaded—become manageable and even positive experiences, supported by a professional, well-trained staff attuned to individual needs.[5]

At the core of their services lies a unique multi-specialty model that distinguishes them from traditional single-focus practices. Patients benefit from integrated care in oral surgery for extractions and implants, periodontics for gum disease management, endodontics for root canal therapies, and orthodontics/pedodontics for alignment and child-specific treatments. This 'one-stop-shop' approach minimizes referrals, reduces wait times between procedures, and ensures holistic treatment plans tailored to diverse needs, whether for adults seeking cosmetic enhancements or children requiring gentle pediatric care.[2][4][6] Additional categories like dental surgery and children's dentistry further broaden their scope, making them a go-to for Downtown Manhattan residents and professionals alike.[1]

What truly sets Dental Specialty Associates apart is their unwavering focus on convenience, technology, and accessibility. Extended hours—7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays—cater to busy New Yorkers, with a simple appointment system via phone or email and a 48-hour cancellation policy to respect scheduling demands.[2][5] They embrace cutting-edge dentistry, continuously updating protocols and employing high sterilization standards, which reassures patients amid rising hygiene expectations post-pandemic.[5] Insurance flexibility is another hallmark; they accept most traditional plans, numerous unions, and all military insurance, with staff ready to verify coverage—though patient reviews note occasional verification hiccups.[5] This pragmatic approach, combined with an educational website rich in dental topics, empowers patients to actively participate in their care journeys.[5]

Despite a challenging BBB rating of D- due to unresolved complaints and mixed online feedback averaging 3.2 stars, the practice's longevity underscores resilience and a core clientele appreciative of competent specialists.[1][2] Positive testimonials highlight knowledgeable doctors, efficient staff in some instances, and successful outcomes, while criticisms often target administrative issues like wait times and communication—areas where their efficiency pledge shines in intent if not always in execution.[2][7] In a city teeming with dental options, Dental Specialty Associates' unique value proposition lies in its multi-disciplinary synergy, operational hours tailored to urban life, and dedication to modern techniques, positioning it as an indispensable resource for comprehensive oral health. Whether addressing acute pain, chronic conditions, or aesthetic aspirations, this practice delivers specialized excellence with a patient-first philosophy that has sustained it for nearly three decades, proving that true distinction comes from integration, accessibility, and unyielding commitment to healthy smiles.[1][2][4][5][6] (Word count: 612)

The most pleasant dental experience I've had. I got 2 root canals done at the same time and barely felt a thing. The dentist made sure I was comfortable and kept asking if I was ok. The staff is very professional and friendly. Definitely would recommend.

Was there the see the Periodontal , waited for over an hours . When I got called I sat in the dental chair for another 45 mins . The dental chair is filthy, look malfunctioned and the office is dirty , filth with dust. I asked the Periodontist what he sees from x -ray , based on the health of the gum and teeth. He did not have an answer. He inspected and poked my gums. Abs said to make a follow up appointment for no particular reason. I won’t recommend this place .

Zero stars for this practice. After the x-ray tech kept botching the image of one section of my mouth, taking the same shot several times, I finally had to tell her enough was enough. A full set of x-rays periodically is a necessary tool, and is generally safe, but excessive exposure to even low doses of radiation is not healthy. Then, the dentist came in and spent a couple of minutes, looking in my mouth before sending me to the periodontist, who was an arrogant, ageist creep, who didn't think someone "my age" deserved the dignity of making my own healthcare decisions. When I requested a referral to see the endodontist, he grudgingly wrote the referral, including disparaging me for wanting to try to preserve the tooth in question. The endo department would not do the exam without my paying $75 out of pocket for a pulp test. Since the perio had already prejudiced the endo by writing his opinion on the card, I decided that it would be a waste of money, time, and energy. I would have to try to find another practice that takes my insurance. When I got home, I called to request a copy of my x-rays, and was given a multi-call runaround over the course of the next two days. I finally went back down there, and after a long, ludicrous hassle, I asked for the practice manager on duty, and she, without even hearing the story, okayed the release of my x-rays to me on the spot. She looked as though I'd been the 100th customer that day to complain about the "care", and request portable records. So now, I'm adding my voice to the chorus of negative reviews, which I came across after my visit.

This place told me my insurance didn’t want to pay for my root canals or consultation so they told me I had to pay $75 cash to be told they can’t help me then between 1300 and 1500 dollars cash to get my teeth fixed only if it was that important to me. I can pay that cash and he will help me. I have a witness ! The dentist Even told me he could try to Negotiate the price but he couldn’t help me and he’s not going to because they will take the money out of his check. They refused to give me my records a refund because they didn’t help me and they lied about my insurance. I believe they are pocketing any cash that comes threw this business. I know have an infection throughout my entire right side of my face because this dr office is a scam! They also did the same thing to my neighbor who is a 17 year old girl. Not cool !!

WATCH OUT TEACHERS OF NYC. I am writing this review to make other patient, especially teachers and their dependents aware of the disgusting interaction I had with the dental secretary whose name is Anita. I entered the office and as soon as I walked in she have a very negative welcoming. I told her that I have scheduled an appointment with an oral surgeon. As soon as I asked her who the provider will be she turned ballistic. I just wanted to make sure that the provider was in network with my insurance. I have UFT cigna, and as I mentioned it to Anita she let all her frustration out on me, and she said and I quote " UFT is the worse Insurance , they barely pay anything. They have copayment for all dental procedures". She stated all of this because I told her that I have spoken to my insurance and they mentioned that there was no copayment for a tooth extraction. And I also mentioned that if I wanted to get an implant that my insurance said the provider should honor $1200 discount. Obviously , I did not want any misunderstandings and I proceeded to call my dental insurance, and as I was on the phone with the cigna representative corroborating the information. I asked Anita if she wanted to speak to representative she refused. Then I asked permission to activate the speaker on my phone so Anita could hear such information. Which out of anger, Anita again yelled to the representative that "UFT insurance is the worse." The oral surgeon that was going to do the extraction is Adrew E. Zeidman and for which Anita works and turns out the this provider is not in network. With this experience, I realized that sometimes people just take things for granted. Why saying the UFT insurance is the worse, and yet they are still advertising that they are in network. Like the saying goes " Don't bite the hand that feeds you" .
