About

Mount Sinai Smiles, situated within the prestigious Annenberg Building at 1 Gustave L. Levy Place on the 2nd Floor, represents a pinnacle of integrative oral healthcare in the heart of New York City. As the faculty dental practice of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, it is not merely a dental clinic but a vital component of one of the world's leading academic medical centers. This unique positioning forms the cornerstone of its identity, blending cutting-edge dental science with a holistic, patient-centered approach to overall health. The practice is built upon the rich history and legacy of the Mount Sinai Health System, an institution with a century-and-a-half-long commitment to medical innovation, education, and compassionate care. Mount Sinai Smiles translates this legacy into the dental realm, operating on the fundamental principle that oral health is inextricably linked to systemic health, a philosophy that guides every patient interaction and treatment plan.

The mission of Mount Sinai Smiles is to provide exceptional, comprehensive dental care in a supportive and comfortable environment while advancing the field of dentistry through research and the education of future leaders. Its services are delivered by full-time faculty members of the Icahn School of Medicine, who are not only experienced clinicians but also esteemed educators and researchers at the forefront of dental medicine. This dual role ensures that the care provided is informed by the latest evidence-based techniques, technologies, and materials. The practice specializes in a wide spectrum of services, ranging from routine preventive care, cosmetic dentistry, and restorative procedures to highly complex treatments involving dental implants, oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, and prosthodontics. What truly sets Mount Sinai Smiles apart is its unparalleled capacity for interdisciplinary collaboration. Located within a major hospital, its dentists work seamlessly with physicians, oncologists, cardiologists, rheumatologists, and other specialists across the Mount Sinai system. This is particularly invaluable for patients with complex medical conditions, such as those undergoing cancer treatment, organ transplants, or managing diabetes, heart disease, or autoimmune disorders, where dental care must be carefully coordinated with overall medical management.

The expertise of the clinical team is exceptional. Each dentist is a leader in their respective specialty, holding advanced certifications and often contributing to academic literature. The environment is one of a teaching practice, which means patients benefit from a culture of thoroughness, continuous questioning, and adherence to the highest standards of care. The unique value proposition lies in this powerful synergy of academic excellence, clinical expertise, and full medical integration. Patients receive care that is meticulously planned, considering their entire health profile, not just their teeth and gums. The practice is equipped with state-of-the-art digital technology, including 3D cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), digital scanners, and CAD/CAM systems for same-day restorations, ensuring precision, efficiency, and superior outcomes. Furthermore, the setting within the Mount Sinai system provides a layer of trust and reassurance; it is a facility designed to handle all aspects of care, including sedation options for anxious patients and the immediate availability of medical support if needed. In a city filled with dental practices, Mount Sinai Smiles distinguishes itself as a destination for those seeking the rigor and resources of a world-class hospital system applied to their oral health, making it a unique and essential healthcare resource for New York and beyond.

Dr. Adam Nusblatt has been great. I have going to him for almost 2 years. He was recommended by two coworkers. I am grateful because I am very nervous when it's dentist time and I have been quite comfortable in his care. The staff are great as well.. friendly and courteous!

I was running a bit behind and called to see if I could reschedule or cancel. The person on the phone insisted that she couldn’t reschedule me unless I paid a $50 cancellation fee via the telephone. I have no problem paying a cancelation fee however I don’t believe that it is policy to tell patients that you cannot reschedule them unless they pay right then and there. I rushed and managed to make it to the appointment, filled out my paperwork and was called into an exam room. The receptionist was really nice and even offered me water as she could see that I rushed to get there. I placed my belongings on the back of the door and to my surprise someone who wasn’t a physician or clinical staff was in the room. Before I could even speak unidentified the person said “You hung up on me I thought you cancelled why did you come? I told another patient that they could have extra work done and now they can’t because you’re here.” EXCUSE ME? I was so caught off guard. I asked her who she was and she said that she was the manager. I asked her if she thought that it was appropriate to confront me the way that she did and she said she can because she’s the manger. I asked her to leave the exam room several times and she condescendingly told me that she didn’t have to leave. I then opened the door and asked if someone could ask her to leave the exam room and everyone including the dentist who I was scheduled to see said that they didn’t want to intervene because she was the manager. I went back into the exam room to gather my belongings and asked her for her name which was Anna Miller who was apparently the appalling administrative manager. Things happen patients miss appointments, run late etc. Compassion and professionalism are basic core competencies of health care admins. Sneaking into a patient room and being snarky and confrontational are highly off putting and inexcusable behavior. Interestingly enough, my appointment that I checked in for was removed from my chart as if it never happened but luckily I have a screenshot. It turns out that I was scheduled incorrectly to begin with. My dental appointment was scheduled as a telephone call? Hmmmm perhaps the administrative manager should focus on how she schedules instead of who wants to reschedule and why. As per the other negative reviews I truly believe that they are all in regards to Anna.

Be prepared to have your patience tested here & experience unprofessionalism at this place from front desk to management. I arrive early to my appointment wait for hours and then the show starts see staff arguing act unprofessional with one another totally sad to see and concerned where I put these people in charge of my oral healthcare. No good! I love Mount Sinai but they definitely need to coach these individuals.

The 1 star that I am giving is for customer service, and it's only because there is no option to choose a zero. I can never get to see these dentist because the few times that I booked and confirmed my appointment I was then told that i don't have an appointment. My appointments cancelled without notice. Seems as if my appointments were cancelled out and given to someone else. I am still trying to figure this out. It is very upsetting. I booked my appointment around the time of my vacation at the most convenient time and now I have no appointment. And when I tried to find out what happened to my appointment I am communicating with someone who acts as if she is lost and have no idea what she is doing, was laughing aa if something she found something funny and told me that I was never booked when, my appointment was confirmed. So I was booked. How could a reputable hospital like Mount Sinai have someone who is short on customer service skills represent them. Especially when I ask to speak with a manager and she tells me that she is the manager. Which was said underneath her breath as if she was whispering, so hard to believe that she is really the manager. But I was completely baffled. I know that there has got to be a professional beyond this, and I wanted to escalate it, but I didn't feel like wasting my time. I have booked with NYU dentistry. They are more professional in the customer service dept and seems way more reliable. Mount Sinai Dentistry will continue to loose customers because of their customer service. Such disappointment. Who has the patience. These people are playing around with people's appointments and wasting people's time.

The worst customer service at the front desk at Oral Surgery department. I came in to my appointment 20min late (on Dec 12, 2022 9:20am) and I understand it was completely my fault if they couldn’t take me in. But since they had only 2 people in the waiting room and I just needed a consultation, I asked if I could sit and wait to be seen by anyone and I was told the next appointment would be 2 months from now. The nurse came out as I was talking to the front desk, and she was willing to ask me questions about my concerns and pain, the front desk lady stepped in and was talking to her about me in a rude manner in front of me! Unacceptable. She sent me to the Mount Sinai Emergency next door, and they said oral surgery department sends everyone there and obviously they couldn’t help because they didn’t have dental. Horrible experience. Would never go back and advise to find to go somewhere else if you have options. People should never work in care profession, if they don’t know how to at least to be nice to other people.
