About

Nestled in the vibrant, creative heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Last Son Dental stands as a beacon of modern, patient-centered dentistry, seamlessly blending clinical excellence with a distinctly warm and artistic approach to oral health. Founded by Dr. Jihyon Song, the practice was established with a profound philosophy: that exceptional dental care should be accessible, comfortable, and delivered in an environment that dispels the traditional anxieties associated with dental visits. The name 'Last Son' itself is a thoughtful nod to Dr. Song's personal history and a metaphor for her practice's mission; as the last son in a family traditionally carries the responsibility of preserving its legacy, Last Son Dental is committed to being the enduring guardian of its patients' oral health and smiles for generations within the community.

Dr. Song's journey to opening the doors at 431 Metropolitan Ave is a story of dedication and a unique fusion of disciplines. A practicing artist before pursuing dentistry, she brings an artist's meticulous eye for detail, aesthetics, and form to every procedure. This rare background informs the practice's core identity, setting it apart in a field often perceived as purely technical. At Last Son Dental, a dental restoration is not just a clinical solution; it is a crafted piece of functional art designed to harmonize perfectly with the individual's natural anatomy and facial aesthetics. This dual expertise in science and art is the cornerstone of their unique value proposition, appealing particularly to the design-conscious residents of Williamsburg and beyond who value both health and beauty.

The mission of Last Son Dental is unequivocally patient-focused: to provide comprehensive, high-quality dental care in a safe, judgment-free, and transparent environment. The team understands that each patient arrives with their own history, fears, and goals. Therefore, they prioritize education and open communication, ensuring patients are active, informed participants in their treatment plans. The practice is designed to feel more like a serene, minimalist gallery than a clinical office, with ample natural light, curated art, and a calming ambiance that immediately puts patients at ease. This deliberate design choice is a direct extension of their service philosophy—care should be a holistic experience that engages the senses and comforts the mind.

What truly sets Last Son Dental apart is its synthesis of cutting-edge technology with this deeply human, artistic touch. The practice is equipped with state-of-the-art digital tools, including intraoral scanners that eliminate the discomfort of traditional impressions, digital X-rays that minimize radiation exposure, and advanced CAD/CAM technology for same-day crowns. However, this technology is never used for its own sake; it is always in service of enhancing accuracy, comfort, and efficiency, allowing Dr. Song and her team to dedicate more time to personalized care and consultation. Their expertise spans the full spectrum of general, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry, with a particular reputation for meticulous cosmetic veneers, natural-looking composite bondings, and Invisalign clear aligner therapy, all approached with an artist's eye for a stunning, yet authentic, result.

Ultimately, Last Son Dental is more than a place to fix teeth; it is a trusted healthcare partner invested in the long-term well-being of its community. By combining Dr. Song's unique artistic sensibility with rigorous dental training, a commitment to technological advancement, and an unwavering dedication to compassionate care, the practice has carved out a distinctive and respected niche in New York City's dental landscape. It is a practice where science and art converge to create not only healthy smiles but also confident, positive patient experiences, ensuring that every visit contributes to a lasting legacy of oral health.

I love Dr. Waltrous! He's very gentle and his bedside manner is excellent. I always leave feeling happy with the way I was treated by everyone and from the cleaning. Junior, his assistant, is great. The lady in the front desk (idk her name :( ) is SO sweet with me. The only reason I took a star off is because the facilities always seem to be pretty run-down BUT I've been his patient for almost 4 years now and I keep coming back, so that should give you an idea. :)

As stated in other comments, not only does Dr Waltrous have excellent bedside manners, he is also very gentle and I had an easy and painless procedure. His assistant Junior and lady at reception are also very friendly and helpful. I did take out one star though because the office looks old and run down which is not reassuring, and it would be great if they could renovate it.

Good luck getting an appointment here. 1) They never pick up their phone 2) In the off chance that they do, you need to have your insurance get you on their list 3) After receiving confirmation from the insurance that you are on the list, they say they do not see it on their system 4) Call insurance back, and they fax your information to this dental practice 5) You call back notifying them that your insurance faxed the information, yet no help what so ever. This is a very poorly run establishment when it comes to setting up appointments at least. Ive left Voice mails a few times for them to call me back, but never received a call back. Poorly poorly managed establishment. Never got to see the dentist to know if he/she was good at all.

Did not finish my dental work and completely ignored 3 deep cavities! How does a dentist even miss that? On top of that, I have to call 35-40 times to get an appointment. Not even exaggerating, they do not answer their phones or have a voicemail. This has got to be one of the most unprofessional dental places I have come across and trust me I have tried many dentists.

Absolutely horrible. I never bleed at the dentist, but after my visit, I was told to go to the bathroom to clean myself up. I was shocked to look in the mirror and see blood all around my mouth, and didn't stop bleeding for hours. Also, the doctor did not perform any tooth polishing, which every dentist I've had does, which seemed odd to me. Lastly, upon requesting they send my dental records to my new dentist (because I will not be returning) they asked for a $35 copy fee, which is illegal under New York Public Health Law. I've attached a photo of the spit sink that sits inches away from your face just as an example of the facilities.
