I haven’t been to the dentist in quite a while and dr.mapes office was more than welcoming. I had some X-rays and a cleaning done which allowed me to get a base level idea of how I can start taking care of my teeth upon my smile quest lol. I feel better even as a person, Now that I’m shining once! I definitely recommend! 🕷️

Have been with Dr Mappes’ practice since it first opened in Williamsburg. Was happy to travel a little farther to Court Square to continue with them. Consistently great experience over the years!

EDITING MY REVIEW IN RESPONSE TO THE CONDESCENDING RESPONSE: Wow.... lol the response literally misses the point. It does not change the fact that this office knew I was out of network and didn’t say anything. As someone else mentioned in a previous review, when a patient asks if an appointment is “covered,” it’s obvious they mean in network. I wasn’t asking whether insurance might apply in some vague or technical sense. At the end of the day - it is STILL deceptive. Beware. I asked multiple times if my visit would be covered by my insurance and was reassured every single time that I would be covered - only for them to turn around afterward and explain that they were “contracted,” meaning out of network. They knew exactly what they were doing. I’ve had so many good experiences with doctors, especially dentists, who actually advocate for their patients, which makes this even more infuriating. At the very least, I learned a hard lesson about how not all health care staff have your best interest in mind. The dentist who runs this practice and the front desk staff should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of patients like this, especially knowing how the office is advertised on Zocdoc. Obviously we are all trying to make a living out here, but that does not justify misleading patients and blindsiding them with unexpected costs.

I had an extremely disappointing and deceptive experience at Court Square Dentist (Dr. Ian Mapes). Before I received the service, the staff explicitly told me they were *in-network* with my insurance provider — which turned out to be completely false. (This dental office also SCAMMED patients with ZocDoc App, claimed to be in their insurance network, when it is false.) Based on that assurance, I proceeded with an exam, cleaning, and X-rays, only to be told afterward that I owed $300, even though I expected a simple $25 copay. Later, I found out from my insurance company that this office is actually *out-of-network*. Despite their misleading claims; and before I arrive the dental office I checked with ZocDoc to ensure that they claimed to be in my insurance network. They billed me the full $890 and even sent the amount to collections instead of $300 balance they had originally quoted. They also pressured me to provide my full credit card number, expiration date, and security code before treatment, and required me to sign a form when I declined — which felt coercive and unprofessional. Overall, this office misrepresented their insurance status, failed to disclose costs upfront, and handled billing in a way I found unethical.
