About

The Golisano Children’s Buffalo Outpatient Center, located prominently at 1001 Main Street on the 2nd and 3rd floors in Buffalo, New York, is a premier, state-of-the-art pediatric ambulatory care facility representing a vital component of the Oishei Children’s Hospital network and Kaleida Health system. This center is named in honor of philanthropist and Paychex founder, B. Thomas Golisano, whose transformative $10 million gift in 2018 catalyzed its creation as a dedicated hub for outpatient pediatric specialty care. More than just a clinic, it was conceived as a strategic initiative to expand access to world-class pediatric services, bringing over 30 specialized clinics under one roof in a convenient, downtown Buffalo location, thereby alleviating the need for families to travel to multiple sites or navigate the larger hospital campus for routine specialist visits. The center's mission is firmly rooted in a holistic, family-centered model of care that treats the whole child—emotionally, socially, and physically—while providing unwavering support to their families. It operates as a beacon of advanced pediatric medicine for Western New York and beyond, driven by the same overarching mission as Oishei Children’s Hospital: to provide exceptional, compassionate healthcare to every child, regardless of complexity or circumstance, and to advance pediatric health through innovation, education, and research.

What sets the Golisano Children’s Buffalo Outpatient Center apart is its deliberate design and operational philosophy. The environment itself is a key part of the healing and comfort strategy, featuring bright, welcoming spaces, interactive art installations, child-friendly décor, and thematic elements aimed at reducing anxiety and creating a positive experience for young patients. Its expertise is vast, delivered by physicians, specialists, and clinical staff who are not only leaders in their respective fields but are also specifically trained in pediatric care. The center serves as the outpatient extension of the region’s only dedicated children’s hospital, ensuring seamless continuity of care. If a child requires hospitalization, testing, or surgery, their records and care team are integrated within the same world-class system, facilitating smooth transitions and coordinated treatment plans. This integration is a significant unique value proposition, offering families the depth and resources of a major academic children’s hospital within a more accessible outpatient setting.

The center’s comprehensive service portfolio is designed to manage both common and highly complex childhood conditions. Its multidisciplinary approach means that specialists from different domains—such as cardiology, orthopedics, neurology, and developmental pediatrics—can easily collaborate on complex cases, ensuring a unified and comprehensive care plan. This collaborative model is particularly beneficial for children with chronic, multi-system conditions. Furthermore, the center is deeply embedded in the community it serves, understanding the unique needs of families in Western New York. It prioritizes accessibility not only through its centralized location but also through care coordination services that help families navigate appointments, insurance, and follow-up care. The underlying ethos is one of partnership; families are treated as essential members of the care team. By combining cutting-edge medical technology, top-tier pediatric expertise, a purpose-built healing environment, and a deeply compassionate, family-focused approach, the Golisano Children’s Buffalo Outpatient Center distinguishes itself as more than a medical facility. It stands as a dedicated partner in the health and well-being of children, committed to ensuring that every visit contributes to a healthier, brighter future for its patients and the community at large.

Absolute butchers in the pediatric blood lab. Three phlebotomists spent 15 minutes moving a needle in/out and left/right in both of my 10 month old son's arms, and still didn't find a vein. I also observed a collected specimen in a vacutainer stored in the same drawer as the clean containers and needles. I called and left a message for the patient advocate, Stephanie, who has not returned my call.

EDIT The communication is horrible, they don’t return phones calls you have to HOUND them for ANY answers. They tell you they will call to schedule an appointment… no, you have to call 50x to get someone to answer the phone to schedule an appointment. They want a bill paid but won’t give you a diagnosis. Was here recently with my son, everyone was so nice and Patti the doctor we saw was very nice and welcoming. We did have a minor wait but that’s to be expected. Hopefully the rest of this process goes smooth!

If I could do 0 starts for the Autism Clinic I would. My son has been on the wait list for close to 2 years. Called a few months ago to see if his turn was coming up, lady told me 2 weeks... it's been months. You can't call and actually talk to anyone. I always get the voicemail. Whoever oversees this clinic should really look into making it a better experience. If and when my son's turn finally comes up, I'm not even confident that he will get a quality evaluation. I've heard horrible things about this clinic and now I know why. It's shameful the way this place operates.
