Ramon Velez Health Center

I had an outstanding experience at the Ramon Velez Dental Department. Dr. Witter is an exceptional dentist who is professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about her patients. She took the time to explain everything clearly and made me feel comfortable throughout my visit. Her assistant, Elizabeth, was equally wonderful—friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful from start to finish. Together, they provided excellent care and made what could have been a stressful dental appointment a very positive experience. The level of compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail shown by both Dr. Witter and Elizabeth was truly impressive. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality dental care.

I’ve been coming to Ramon Velez Health Center for about 6–7 years now, and my experience has been consistently positive for both myself and my children. I see my primary care doctor, Dr. Ali, on the second floor, and my kids go to pediatric primary care on the third floor with Dr. Ringer. Both providers have always been attentive, respectful, and genuinely caring. I’ve never felt rushed, and they take the time to listen and explain things clearly, which means a lot—especially as a parent. One thing I want to mention, because I know it can come up in other reviews, is that there is a methadone clinic on the first floor. This is New York City, and seeing individuals struggling with addiction is unfortunately not uncommon. In my experience, this has never impacted the care we receive. People keep to themselves, and we’ve never felt unsafe or uncomfortable. You go in, handle your appointment, and go about your day. The staff overall has been professional and helpful, and the facility has met our needs consistently over the years. For a community health center, I think they do a great job. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking for reliable primary care.

Dr. Renee Hartwell is a great Therapist . I was going through stress on my job. After meeting with Dr. Hartwell I learned ways to handle my stress. Dr. Hartwell listened carefully, reflected what she heard accurately and ask thoughtful questions rather than jumping to conclusions. Dr. Hartwell made me feel emotionally safe discussing difficult topics without fear of judgment or ridicule. Dr. Hartwell rather than fitting me into a diagnosis or template, Dr.Hartwell understands my unique experience value and goals. I appreciate Dr. Renee Hartwell leadership skills. I’m proud to have her as my therapist. Dr. Hartwell you are awesome.

dr. toloza, dr. ali, and dr. callard are all absolutely wonderful. the 3 of them are so communicative, thorough, and listen to their patients’ concerns, which has always been a big deal for me as a lot of healthcare providers dismiss instead of listening, especially to young women of color. however, all 3 of them have shown an immense amount of care, willingness to help my physical and mental health, and they make sure to properly explain everything in terms that i understand, so i’m kept properly informed. everyone at ramon velez, from the front desk ladies and security, to the intake nurses and the doctors, are so kind and welcoming. this is one of the few places i’ve been to where i know that everyone actually cares about the patients as people, not as another job for them. could not recommend this place more, 10/10 :)

I highly recommend coming to Ramon Velez health center. The staff here are amazing and I wanna give special praise and emphasis to Dr. Francesca Ali and Care coordinator Zulay who are both very kind, helpful, and considerate. From my first few visits with them, my health has shown definite improvement partially due to their suggestions and their support. Not only them, but the other staff in the facility are very kind and helpful making this location a place you would definitely wanna come to for any checkups or anything concerning your health. I highly recommend coming to the Ramon Velez health center you won’t regret it.
