About

New York Periodontics, located at 225 E 64th St #1, New York, NY 10065, stands as a premier destination for advanced periodontal care and dental implant solutions in the heart of Manhattan. Led by the distinguished **Dr. Paul Rosen**, a board-certified periodontist with over 30 years of clinical excellence, this practice specializes in periodontics, surgical implant placement, and regenerative therapy, delivering cutting-edge treatments that prioritize patient comfort, precision, and long-term oral health.[1][5][6] Dr. Rosen's extensive career includes maintaining a full-time private practice in Lower Bucks County for more than three decades before expanding to New York City five years ago, where he continues to focus exclusively on complex periodontal procedures and innovative implantology.[5][6] His academic roles as Clinical Professor of Periodontics at the University of Maryland Dental School and Rutgers University School of Dental Medicine underscore his commitment to education and advancing the field, having authored over 50 articles and five book chapters that influence periodontal standards worldwide.[5]

The mission of New York Periodontics is rooted in a patient-centered philosophy: keeping patients comfortable and relaxed while preserving the health, function, and appearance of their teeth through the latest advances in periodontal and dental implant therapy.[4] This dedication manifests in their utilization of state-of-the-art technologies, such as **FDA-approved Laser Therapy** for non-invasive gum disease treatment, **LANAP** (Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure) for minimal discomfort and remarkable regeneration results, and specialized protocols like LAPIP for repairing failing implants.[4][7] The practice also emphasizes stem cell technology, management of oral diseases, and the critical link between periodontal health and systemic conditions, offering holistic care that addresses both local and broader health implications.[1]

What truly sets New York Periodontics apart is Dr. Rosen's unparalleled expertise and accolades. As a **Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology**—where he has served as an examiner—and a **Fellow of the American College of Dentists**, he brings rigorous certification and peer-recognized mastery to every procedure.[5] In 2015, he was honored with the **Master Clinician Award** from the American Academy of Periodontology, one of the organization's highest distinctions, awarded annually to just one member for consistent clinical excellence.[5] Peers in Philadelphia Magazine have named him among the top dentists, reflecting his national and international reputation built on research-driven lectures and innovative techniques in regenerative therapy and implant success.[5] With an estimated **50,000 implants placed** across his career, boasting **60 years of combined experience** (likely inclusive of team contributions), and serving **10,000 satisfied patients** through **120 procedures offered**, the practice demonstrates unmatched scale and reliability.[4]

Unlike general dental offices or less specialized competitors, New York Periodontics excels in complex cases, including **zirconia ceramic implants**—hypoallergenic, biocompatible alternatives for aesthetically superior, healthy smiles—and precise implant repairs via grafting or laser methods.[4] Their non-invasive approaches minimize recovery time and discomfort, contrasting with traditional surgery-heavy practices.[7] Patient feedback, such as perfect 5.0-star ratings for bedside manner and wait times from Dr. Hector Sarmiento's associated reviews (noting bilingual English/Spanish services), highlights the team's compassionate, efficient care.[2] While not BBB-accredited, the practice's focus on evidence-based, technology-forward treatments positions it as a leader for patients seeking durable solutions to gum disease, tooth loss, and restorative needs.[3]

In a city teeming with dental options, New York Periodontics distinguishes itself through Dr. Rosen's lifetime of contributions—from examiner roles in elite boards to pioneering products that redefine periodontal outcomes. Whether treating advanced periodontitis, placing life-changing implants, or linking oral health to systemic wellness, this practice embodies precision, innovation, and trust. Patients benefit from a serene Upper East Side location, flexible hours (e.g., Monday 9 AM–5 PM), and direct access via phone at (212) 838-0940.[5][8] For those prioritizing expertise backed by awards, research, and transformative results, New York Periodontics offers not just treatment, but a pathway to optimal oral health that endures.[1][2][4][5][6] (Word count: 612)

This review is a few years late, but I was looking for a local dentist after moving recently and still think to this day that my experience here with Dr. Sarmiento was the best one I've had with a dentist. I was in the area on vacation and developed a recurring abscess in my gum that couldn't be ignored. I found New York Periodontics on Google and they were able to squeeze me in for an emergency appointment. For context, I'm extremely picky with my dentists due to previous bad experiences (no dental anxiety, just very cautious about not getting unnecessary procedures or lackluster cleanings). Dr. Sarmiento pretty much checked off all my dentist boxes. Great and thorough service; conservative about the procedure but not so far that I felt the care was neglectful; clear communication about the process; and most importantly, took my inputs seriously. He also consulted Dr. Pollack in the office for a second opinion before deciding on what to do. And what to do have it, I haven't had the issue come back ever since. In contrast, the dentist I went to see when the first abscess appeared opted for a temporarily solution that left me one tooth less and my wallet lighter. Of course this was just one visit I had (technically two if you include the followup), so I can't speak for the quality of routine care here. But I did go to another dentist Dr. Sarmiento recommended in my home town and had a great experience there as well. Anyway, this long review was all to say that I had a great experience here and would recommend the place to anyone looking for good care! I'm perpetually looking for the same quality in all the other dentists I see.

A proud patient of New York Periodontics for over 10 years. The office staff is lovely and very efficient in scheduling and finding time for their patients. The providers in the office are the best in periodontics, oral surgery and hygiene in NYC hands down. Many of my friends and family are also patients with nothing but raving reviews of their visits. Dr. Sarmiento has provided exquisite care and attentiveness. He has always made me feel safe and has taken initiative of my oral health with so much attention to detail. The hygienists are the best of the best! I also recently had a visit with Dr. Liss who had excellent bedside manners and provided great care. Not to mention that the office is always immaculate!

EDIT: Unable to delete review so leaving 5 stars - have never visited this doctor though! While my actual appointment with Dr. Weinstein and his dental hygienist staff were wonderful, my experience with their billing department is probably the worst experience I've ever had with a doctors billing department (which says a lot). I had a $900 appointment charge get audited by my HSA company and they asked for a receipt from NY Periodontics. I didn't keep my printed paper after months, and I proceeded to email, call, and leave voice messages over 11 times and have received radio silence. The one time someone did pick up, she actually scoffed me and sarcastically said "Yeah I'm getting how urgent it is." I've never had a doctors office treat me rudely in defense of ghosting me for months.

I've been a patient in this practice for over ten years. Routine care. Emergency care. Implant. Dr. Pollack is everything one could ask for - a brilliant dentist who takes the time to listen and explain. Evelyn, his dental hygienist, is so gentle as well as thorough that I don't even mind coming for my three-times-a-year cleaning. I thank them both for taking such good care of me.
