About

BeamBar is a boutique teeth whitening studio that has revolutionized professional teeth whitening in New York City by making it affordable, accessible, and enjoyable. Founded by two Columbia Business School graduates—Adi Jain and Fabienne van Buchem—alongside Rashi Gupta, an experienced dentist with over 10 years of professional experience, BeamBar emerged from a mission to reinvent teeth whitening when the founders met in an entrepreneurship class in January 2019. The company's core philosophy centers on democratizing professional teeth whitening by offering high-quality treatments at an affordable price point of $179 and above, completed in approximately one hour, with walk-in appointments welcome.

The Upper West Side location at 290 Columbus Avenue represents BeamBar's expansion beyond its flagship Greenwich Village store at 267 Bleecker Street, which opened in June 2022. The Upper West Side location occupies the space formerly home to the New York Barber Shop Museum and opened in mid-July 2023. This expansion was driven by the company's success in whitening the smiles of over 4,000 New Yorkers at their original location, demonstrating strong market demand and customer satisfaction.

What sets BeamBar apart from traditional dental whitening services is its innovative approach to the customer experience. Rather than the clinical, sterile environment typical of dental offices with lab coat-clad technicians, BeamBar has created a spa-like atmosphere where apron-wearing staff members welcome clients in a relaxed, fun setting. The experience is designed to feel like 'a spa for your mouth,' with customers able to watch Netflix during their whitening sessions. Before the whitening treatment begins, clients are offered complementary lip scrubs and vitamin-infused toothpastes, enhancing the overall wellness experience.

The whitening process itself is comprehensive and professional. It begins with a preparation phase where clients brush their teeth using BeamBar's proprietary vitamin-infused toothpaste and enjoy a sugar-based lip scrub. The whitening phase follows, during which clients recline in comfortable seating while the professional whitening treatment is applied. The process concludes with a sealing phase where re-mineralizing gel is applied to protect the teeth, followed by a custom mouthwash rinse. The results are impressive—BeamBar advertises that clients can achieve up to 7 shades whiter teeth in just one hour.

BeamBar's commitment to quality and safety is evident in its founding team's composition. The inclusion of Rashi Gupta, a dentist, ensures that all treatments are grounded in dental expertise and professional standards, despite the casual, non-clinical presentation. The company emphasizes simplicity and professionalism, eliminating unnecessary complexity while maintaining the highest safety standards.

The business has garnered significant recognition and positive customer feedback. With a 4.9-star rating across 350+ Google and ClassPass reviews, BeamBar has established itself as a trusted provider in the NYC teeth whitening market. Customer testimonials highlight the superior results compared to both traditional dentist whitening and at-home whitening kits, with one customer noting they had 'never had results this good, this fast.' The company has also received media attention, with coverage in local publications praising their quick, affordable, and entertaining approach to dental aesthetics.

BeamBar's Upper West Side location maintains the same high standards and innovative approach as the flagship store while incorporating design improvements and ongoing experimentation with store format and layout. The company's vision is to ensure that every BeamBar location offers the same exceptional experience while continuously improving the aesthetic and functional aspects of the space. This commitment to consistency and improvement reflects the founders' dedication to making professional teeth whitening a standard wellness service accessible to all New Yorkers.

I've had my teeth whitened at other places so I know what to expect. Quite pleased that I got a great color with just their basic service. The whole experience was fun - the decor is silly and the staff is upbeat and positive. To my surprise, they have you apply the gel to your teeth yourself. I was worried that I wouldn't get enough gel in the right places. Maybe they have you do it yourself this for liability reasons? But it turned out fine, and I'm glad I went 😊Thank you Beambar.

Love this place! I only took one star away because the chairs are uncomfortable. I have a long torso and I couldn’t lean back due to the curvature of the chair. So I kept drooling excessively. Other than that, great techs & got my teeth white!

Terrible experience at upperwest side location. I went in for my apppntment and they were really rude to me and said that couldn’t honor my appointment time. They also said it wasn’t possible to come back at a later time, which was weird because it wasn’t near closing time and there were seats avalaible. The workers looked young, so I suppose maybe they wanted to leave early by turning me away. It was incredibly rude. This is the staff at the upper west side were shockingly rude. I was completely shocked how rude they were as I had been going for two years to the west village location and the staff at that location are always friendly.
