About

ColumbiaDoctors Dentistry, with its prominent location at 630 West 168th Street, #7-201, New York, NY 10032, stands as a cornerstone of excellence in oral health care within the heart of Northern Manhattan. As an integral part of Columbia University Irving Medical Center's College of Dental Medicine—a institution renowned for nearly a century of leadership in dental education, research, and clinical practice—this practice embodies a legacy of innovation and patient-centered care. Established through the prestigious ColumbiaDoctors network, it traces its roots to the College of Dental Medicine, founded in 1916, which has consistently ranked among the top dental schools in the nation. This rich history informs every aspect of the practice, from pioneering dental implant technologies to advancing orthodontic and prosthodontic techniques that have shaped modern dentistry.[3][4][6]

The mission of ColumbiaDoctors Dentistry is clear and unwavering: to empower patients to lead long, happy, and healthy lives through comprehensive, first-class dental and oral care across all specialties. This commitment is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of highly trained general dentists and specialists, all of whom are faculty members at the College of Dental Medicine. These experts bring unparalleled access to groundbreaking research, cutting-edge technologies, and collaborative care models that ensure personalized treatment plans tailored to individual needs. Unlike standalone practices, ColumbiaDoctors Dentistry operates within a world-class academic medical center, fostering an environment where education, research, and clinical excellence converge to produce superior outcomes.[3][4]

Services at this location encompass a full spectrum of general, specialty, and pediatric dentistry, making it a one-stop destination for oral health. General dentistry includes thorough evaluations, cleanings, fillings, and screenings for issues like tooth decay and oral cancer. Pediatric dentistry caters to infants through adolescents, as well as adults with special needs, in a warm, comforting setting led by board-certified specialists. Orthodontics offers state-of-the-art options such as traditional braces, Invisalign, and retainers for children and adults alike. Cosmetic dentistry enhances smiles through whitening, veneers, and full-mouth reconstructions, while prosthodontics expertly restores missing or damaged teeth. The practice's leadership in dental implants—having played a pivotal role in their development—continues with hundreds of procedures annually, supported by advanced diagnostics like cone-beam CT scans and panoramic X-rays. Additional offerings include endodontics, periodontics, oral maxillofacial surgery consultations, orthognathic surgery, TMJ treatment, extractions (including wisdom teeth), bone grafts, bridges, crowns, dentures, and oral pathology biopsies. Emergency services and second opinions round out the comprehensive portfolio, all provided without the need for external referrals.[4][5]

What truly sets ColumbiaDoctors Dentistry apart is its unique value proposition: seamless, integrated care in a modern, low-stress environment backed by academic rigor. Patients benefit from a team of faculty dentists whose dual roles as educators and clinicians ensure they stay at the forefront of advancements—whether through research-driven implant innovations or minimally invasive cosmetic procedures. The five Manhattan locations, including this key site near Presbyterian Hospital and Vanderbilt Clinic, enhance convenience, with on-site labs, imaging, and coordination for complex surgeries. Teaching clinics offer affordable options under faculty supervision, democratizing access to elite care. This contrasts sharply with competitors, who often fragment services across providers, leading to inconvenience and inconsistency. Here, collaboration yields confidence: your general dentist consults seamlessly with orthodontists, oral surgeons, and prosthodontists for holistic treatment.[3][5][6]

Expertise is the hallmark, with providers committed to compassionate, family-oriented care. The practice's modern facilities at 630 West 168th Street provide a comfortable backdrop for everything from routine check-ups to intricate reconstructions. By prioritizing early detection, preventive strategies, and patient education, ColumbiaDoctors Dentistry not only treats but transforms oral health, fostering lifelong wellness. Got my wisdom tooth pulled out. My appointment from start to finish was exceptional! Although I was nervous at first they made me feel welcomed and at ease. The xray was easy and PAIN FREE and not at all unpleasant. The tooth extraction itself was very quick. Highly recommend this place!

Impossible to make an appointment. They never pick up the phone. There’s no option for booking appointments online either.

Extremely frustrating experience. When you call, no one ever picks up. You're redirected to another office that can only take a message, but no one ever follows up. I've tried multiple times with no success. It feels impossible to actually reach someone who can help.

I came in to be assessed for oral surgery and was initially told that if my face wasn’t visually swollen and there was no infection, they couldn’t help me right away. Next appt was two weeks away. Then she suggested I go to the emergency dept. to see if that can get me in sooner. I did that and waited 3 hours for a PA to scan my mouth for 10 seconds. After that I went back w my discharge paperwork and was x-rayed and told that I would benefit greatly from a second x-ray but that it would cost $400, plus a separate fee in the hundreds if I wanted to be sedated for my procedure. If you have Medicaid I suggest you run FAR from this place. You will either risk having your nerves damaged or come out pocket almost $1k. Oh and attending doc suggested breaking half the tooth instead as a way to go around the $400 fee 😂😂😂 truly laughable. Also state of facilities at Columbia is at a -5. Patients in the ER can be seen filling their needles and entering the bathroom to shoot up.. nothing against people who suffer from substance abuse issues but the standard of excellence at NYP is nonexistent. Security yelling at patients. Truly a nightmare
