About

Nestled in the vibrant South Wedge neighborhood of Rochester, New York, at 1000 Elmwood Avenue, the practice operating as CP Rochester Family Dental Center (which appears to be the publicly listed name for Elmwood Dental Group at that precise address, Door 20) represents a cornerstone of community-focused oral healthcare. For decades, this established practice has built its reputation on a foundation of trust, clinical excellence, and a genuine commitment to treating patients like family. Its location in the historic Hungerford Building places it at the heart of a creative and diverse community, a setting that reflects the practice's own philosophy of inclusive, accessible, and personalized dental care. The history of this practice is intertwined with the growth of Rochester itself, evolving from a traditional dental office into a comprehensive care center that leverages modern technology while maintaining the personal touch of a neighborhood practice. The mission is unequivocal: to provide exceptional, lifelong dental care in a comfortable, welcoming, and stress-free environment. This mission is driven by the belief that optimal oral health is a critical component of overall wellness, confidence, and quality of life. The practice is dedicated to serving patients of all ages, truly embodying the 'Family Dental' aspect of its name, and creating positive dental experiences that dissolve anxiety and build lasting relationships.

The expertise within this practice is broad and deep, anchored by skilled dental professionals who pursue continuing education to stay at the forefront of dental techniques and technology. Their approach is comprehensive, focusing not just on treating problems but on preventive care and patient education. They take the time to explain conditions and treatment options clearly, empowering patients to make informed decisions about their health. This patient-centric model is a key part of their unique value proposition. In an era of corporate dental chains, this practice stands apart as a locally owned, relationship-driven establishment where patients see the same caring team at every visit, ensuring continuity of care that is both rare and invaluable.

What truly sets this business apart is its harmonious blend of advanced capability and compassionate delivery. The office is equipped with state-of-the-art digital technology, including digital X-rays for reduced radiation, intraoral cameras for patient education, and modern sterilization protocols that exceed industry standards. However, technology serves the human element, not replaces it. The team is renowned for its gentle, calming demeanor, particularly adept at caring for patients with dental phobias or children needing a positive first introduction to dentistry. Their unique value proposition extends to logistical convenience and financial transparency. They understand the complexities of dental insurance and work diligently to help patients maximize their benefits, while also offering clear explanations of costs and flexible payment options for necessary care.

The practice's commitment to the Rochester community extends beyond the treatment chair. They are active participants in the local area, contributing to the vitality of the Elmwood Avenue corridor and understanding the needs of their neighbors. This deep local integration fosters a level of trust and accessibility that larger, impersonal clinics cannot match. From a child's first check-up to complex restorative work for seniors, CP Rochester Family Dental Center / Elmwood Dental Group provides a seamless continuum of care. It is a practice where clinical skill, modern technology, empathetic communication, and old-fashioned patient loyalty converge to create a dental healthcare experience that is not merely about teeth, but about fostering health, building confidence, and serving as a dependable partner for the entire family's well-being for generations.

Sharon, please retire. Your nasty attitude set a negative tone on 1/22/26 when I came in with my son to hand in an enrollment packet and I had a couple of questions. If you cannot answer questions without the sarcasm, raising your voice and turning red and shaking because you forgot your humanity, you don’t belong anywhere near a phone, a keyboard or the public.

It took 9 months to get a new patient appointment. I drove my handicapped daughter and arrived a half hour early and had to sit outside because the office was locked for lunch break. When it was opened we checked in. The person behind the desk after we sat waiting finally called us up to inform us that she did have an appointment for 1:00 pm but the dentist would be out of the office for 2 months and that the secretary was not there so we would have to call the next day to schedule a new appointment. Also there was no appointment for a dental cleaning and no one able to do a teeth cleaning. My daughter’s care manager was also not notified that the dentist would not be there for the appointment. Handicapped people on Medicaid are not treated as well as others with private insurance. When I was working and had private dental insurance, my daughter saw a dentist for 11 years who doesn’t take Medicaid. This dentist charged us FULL PRICE when I lost private insurance and refused to lower his price to match what private insurance pays. The poor have to pay more for medical services and get treated poorly. It wasn’t easy driving there due to the Lilac festival traffic and closed roads. We were never given directions and the clinic is in the back out of sight and hard to find.
