About

Nestled in the heart of Manhattan at the prestigious 551 Fifth Avenue, Dental Sleep Apnea New York stands as a leading, specialized practice dedicated exclusively to the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-disordered breathing, with a primary focus on obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). This practice represents a paradigm shift in sleep care, bridging the critical gap between traditional sleep medicine and advanced dental therapeutics. Founded on the principle that effective sleep apnea treatment must be accessible, comfortable, and tailored to the individual, the practice has established itself as a beacon of hope for New Yorkers who struggle with the debilitating effects of untreated sleep apnea—a condition linked to hypertension, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and daytime fatigue impacting work and personal safety. The mission of Dental Sleep Apnea New York is unequivocal: to provide a patient-centric, evidence-based alternative to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy for those who are CPAP-intolerant or seek a more comfortable solution, thereby improving overall health, quality of life, and longevity through restorative sleep. The practice is built upon a foundation of deep expertise, where dentistry converges with sleep medicine. The clinical team, led by a dedicated sleep dentist, undergoes rigorous training beyond standard dental education, focusing on the anatomy of the airway, the pathophysiology of sleep apnea, and the precise design and fitting of oral appliance therapy (OAT). What sets this practice apart is its singular specialization. Unlike general dental offices that may offer sleep apnea treatment as an ancillary service, this center's entire ecosystem—from consultation and diagnostic protocols to follow-up care and partnership with board-certified sleep physicians—is meticulously designed around sleep breathing disorders. The unique value proposition lies in a comprehensive, concierge-style care pathway. It begins with a detailed risk assessment and often involves coordinating home sleep tests or in-lab sleep studies to secure an accurate diagnosis. Following diagnosis, the practice excels in the custom fabrication, fitting, and titration of FDA-approved oral appliances, which are small, comfortable devices worn like a sports mouthguard or orthodontic retainer to gently reposition the lower jaw and tongue, maintaining an open airway throughout the night. Beyond the technical excellence, the practice distinguishes itself through its commitment to collaborative care. It operates not in isolation but as an integral part of each patient's medical team, maintaining clear communication with referring physicians, pulmonologists, and sleep specialists to ensure a seamless continuum of care. The midtown Manhattan location is not merely an address; it symbolizes accessibility for professionals and residents across the tri-state area, offering a discreet and clinical environment in a landmark New York building. The patient experience is defined by education, empathy, and relentless follow-up. Understanding that therapy success depends on compliance and comfort, the team invests significant time in patient education, appliance adjustment, and ongoing support, including objective compliance monitoring to verify treatment efficacy. In a city that never sleeps, Dental Sleep Apnea New York is profoundly committed to helping its patients finally achieve the restorative sleep they need to thrive, setting a gold standard for specialized dental sleep medicine in one of the world's most demanding and dynamic urban landscapes.

My entire family has been going to Dr Binder for years. He's simply the best. From the stellar front desk, fantastic hygienists, to Dr Binder himself - every aspect of this practice is impressive. I recommend Dr Binder to my friends and colleagues and I always get thanked for doing so. Without a doubt, look no further for your dental needs.

Best dentist in New York City, Period! I've been seeing Dr. Binder for over 30 years and my wife sees him too. I've recommended him countless times. Excellent office, very low wait times, and an excellent staff. But what's more is David has cured my sleep apnea! He's also one of the best osa doctors in the city and is connected with Mt. Sinai's sleep department. He made a dental appliance for me and now I know what it is like to get REAL sleep! THANK YOU, Dr. Binder!

After I told Dr. Binder my teeth were sensitive, I was treated with extra care. Going to the dentist isn't my favorite thing to do but with Dr. Binder it was a breeze. I received a filling for a cavity and felt nothing! Great experience.

Have been seeing Dr. Binder for 20+ years and am extremely satisfied. Have recommended many people, including family members, to him and, years later, they continue to see him. He is knowledgeable, kind, and the office is well organized. I recommend him
