About

Dr. Moses Datson, MD, FAAN, is a distinguished neurologist and sleep medicine specialist whose practice at 295 Madison Ave on the 28th Floor represents a pinnacle of personalized, patient-centric neurological care in the heart of New York City. While specific founding details of his private practice are not publicly chronicled, Dr. Datson has established himself over years of dedicated service as a trusted authority, operating from a prestigious Manhattan address that signifies his commitment to accessibility and excellence in one of the world's most demanding medical landscapes. The practice is built upon a foundational mission to provide comprehensive, evidence-based neurological care that not only diagnoses and treats conditions but also empowers patients through education, compassion, and a deeply collaborative partnership.

The core of Dr. Datson's expertise lies at the intersection of general neurology and sleep medicine, a dual specialization that recognizes the profound interconnection between brain health and sleep quality. This holistic approach sets his practice apart. He understands that a sleep disorder may be the first sign of a neurological condition, and conversely, that neurological diseases often severely disrupt sleep. His practice philosophy transcends the traditional symptom-focused model, aiming instead to understand the complete patient narrative—lifestyle, stressors, overall health, and personal goals—to develop tailored management plans. The environment at 295 Madison Ave is deliberately curated to be a calm, welcoming oasis away from the impersonal feel of large hospital systems, ensuring patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in every decision regarding their care.

Dr. Datson's unique value proposition is his synthesis of top-tier academic training and credentials with the attentive, unrushed ethos of a boutique private practice. He is board-certified in both Neurology and Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a distinction that demands rigorous additional fellowship training and examination. This dual certification is a key differentiator, as it provides a depth of insight into conditions like sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, and parasomnias that a general neurologist may lack. His approach to common neurological disorders such as migraines, epilepsy, neuropathy, and dizziness is thus informed by a unique lens that always considers the critical restorative role of sleep in brain recovery and function.

What truly sets Dr. Moses Datson apart from competitors is the personalized continuity of care he offers. In an era of fragmented healthcare, patients see Dr. Datson himself at every visit, fostering a strong, consistent therapeutic relationship. He dedicates substantial time for initial consultations to ensure a thorough history and discussion. The practice leverages advanced diagnostic tools, including detailed interpretation of polysomnograms (sleep studies) and electroencephalograms (EEGs), but always contextualizes data within the patient's lived experience. Furthermore, his prime midtown Manhattan location is not only convenient for professionals and residents across the tri-state area but also places him in proximity to leading hospitals for any necessary collaborations or advanced procedures, ensuring seamless care coordination while maintaining his independent, patient-first approach. This blend of deep sub-specialty expertise, compassionate communication, and a convenient, comfortable setting defines Dr. Datson's practice as a premier destination for those seeking authoritative and humane neurological and sleep health management in New York City.

Nurses are very welcoming and keep good conversations to keep the jitters away. Dr. Moses is so chill and doesn’t bombard you with unnecessary stuff to buy for you dental care. Sad cause I won’t be able to come back cuz they no longer take Delta dental.

This Doctor DOES NOT Take Insurance. (And I know it says on his website that he does and they will tell you repeatedly that he does take insurance. Please read.) We went to him on August 9th 2024. For over a month, they pushed for an all cash payment for an extraction and bone procedure. They told us they were submitting the insurance claim everytime we called. They told us they hadn’t heard back from insurance. 6 weeks later, I called the insurance. They never submitted anything *except* the initial consult for our first visit. I argue with them. They finally give the insurance quote. Today, while sitting on the exam chair, the doctor tells my husband that he is furious at all our calls and will not take insurance and does not take insurance. He asks how many times he had to tell us he doesnt take insurance. Datson says if my husband wants the procedure, he needs to pay up. In all cash. Tell me then, why did they submit the initial consult to insurance? I don’t know why someone would go through years of dental school just to become an unoriginal and unexceptional scam artist. Knowing this, even with all cash, I would not trust him.
