About

The Greater New York Dental Meeting (GNYDM) is not a traditional dental practice but rather one of the world's premier and largest annual dental conferences and trade exhibitions. Established in 1925, it is organized by The Dental Society of the State of New York (DSSNY) and the New York County Dental Society. For nearly a century, it has served as a monumental nexus for the global dental community, transforming New York City into the dental capital of the world for one week each year. The meeting's mission is profoundly educational and collegial: to advance the profession of dentistry by providing a comprehensive, world-class forum for learning, networking, and discovery. It is dedicated to empowering dental professionals—dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, lab technicians, office staff, and students—with the latest knowledge, techniques, technology, and products necessary to deliver exceptional patient care and run successful practices.

The history of the GNYDM is a story of exponential growth driven by a commitment to excellence. From its modest beginnings, it has evolved into a colossal event that annually attracts over 55,000 attendees from across the United States and more than 130 countries, alongside over 1,600 exhibiting companies occupying the vast expanse of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The meeting's administrative offices at 200 W 41st St serve as the year-round engine that plans this mammoth undertaking. The GNYDM's unique value proposition lies in its unparalleled scale, diversity, and accessibility. Unlike many specialized or for-profit conferences, it is organized by dentists for dentists, ensuring the programming is directly relevant to clinical and practice management needs. Its non-profit status allows it to reinvest resources into creating an incredibly rich attendee experience at a relatively low cost, with free admission for all preregistered dental professionals.

What sets the GNYDM apart is its holistic and immersive approach to professional development. The meeting is renowned for its exhaustive curriculum of over 300 seminars, hands-on workshops, and live demonstrations led by the most esteemed clinicians, researchers, and educators in the field. These sessions span every conceivable discipline—from implantology, endodontics, and esthetic dentistry to periodontics, orthodontics, practice management, and digital dentistry. Beyond the lecture halls, the massive exhibit floor is a dynamic showcase of innovation, where attendees can interact with the latest dental equipment, materials, software, and services. This combination of theoretical learning and practical, tactile exploration is a cornerstone of the GNYDM experience.

Furthermore, the GNYDM distinguishes itself through its commitment to global outreach and inclusivity. It offers translation services for international attendees and fosters a truly global exchange of ideas. The meeting also places a strong emphasis on the entire dental team, offering specific tracks for auxiliaries, and it actively supports the next generation through special events and pricing for students. Its social and networking events, from lavish galas to alumni receptions, build a sense of community and professional camaraderie that extends beyond the conference days. In essence, the Greater New York Dental Meeting is far more than a conference; it is an institution. It is a yearly pilgrimage for dental professionals seeking inspiration, education, and the tools to innovate, ensuring the continued elevation of dental care standards worldwide. Its longevity, prestige, and unwavering focus on serving the entire profession cement its status as an indispensable pillar of the dental community.

So so happy that the Greater NY Dental Meeting went virtual this year so that dentists can continue to feel engaged and learn at a comfortable pace despite the unexpected turn of events that is 2020. Kudos to the committee for organizing this for us!

Great event for us, DentistFind. Lots of interest from the dentists here in New York for our dental marketing management services. 50% more new patients or your money back. New York dentists are ready for more accountability from their marketing company.

The recent Greater New York Dental Meeting experience has led me to write about my deep disappointment regarding the insufficient recognition and exclusion of dental hygienists throughout the entire event. As a dental hygienist, I am an essential member of the dental team and play a major role in patient education, prevention, product selection, and daily clinical recommendations. In many cases, it is the dental hygienist—not the dentist—who directly evaluates, tests, and recommends the preventive and adjunctive products that patients ultimately choose to use. Despite this reality, the treatment I received at several booths left me feeling overlooked. Representatives directed their attention almost exclusively toward dentists, often ignoring me or cutting conversations short, even though I am one of the primary professionals who would be recommending their products to patients. The entire duration of the meeting failed to identify any particular areas which recognized or backed dental hygienists. The dental hygienists team needs more recognition because we deliver substantial value through our preventive work and educational services and patient care services. I want to emphasize that I do not want to criticize the event because it remains an excellent professional gathering. The meeting requires improvement to achieve better representation of all dental team members. I suggest some modifications for future meetings which will help us obtain superior results. The training program should teach booth representatives to provide equal attention to dental hygienists and assistants and dentists during their interactions. All team members should receive equal respect through this approach. The event needs to establish dedicated areas which focus on dental hygienists through exhibits and sessions and educational programs. The dental community benefits from our attendance at dental events because we actively participate in all continuing education programs. I present these concerns with appreciation because I want them to receive proper evaluation. The Greater New York Dental Meeting needs to become more inclusive while keeping its role as an inspiring event which accepts all dental professionals. Your annual work has received my appreciation because of your dedication to unite our dental community. I will attend the event again but I predict upcoming meetings will show the same level of respect for all dental practitioners who perform front-line preventive care work. Frangely Perez, RDH, BSDH
