About

Lumia Dental PLLC, located at 160 Broadway #1004 in the heart of Lower Manhattan, New York, NY 10038, stands as a premier dental practice redefining modern dentistry through a seamless fusion of cutting-edge technology, elite expertise, and unparalleled patient-centric service. Nestled in the bustling Financial District, Lumia Dental has emerged as one of New York City's top dental offices, catering to the diverse oral health needs of local residents and professionals with a commitment to excellence that transcends traditional dental care. While specific founding dates remain undisclosed in available records, the practice's rapid ascent is evident from its sophisticated operations, state-of-the-art facility, and a team of providers trained at the nation's most prestigious institutions, positioning it as a relatively young yet exceptionally accomplished player in NYC's competitive dental landscape.[1][4]

At the core of Lumia Dental's mission is a belief that exceptional dental care extends far beyond technical proficiency—it encompasses quality, comfort, and convenience at every patient interaction. 'Where Cutting Edge Dentistry Meets A Modern Patient Experience' is more than a tagline; it's a philosophy that prioritizes conservative, non-invasive treatments to maintain oral health while optimizing esthetics for beautiful, functional smiles. The practice's unique value proposition lies in its refusal to cut corners, opting instead for the highest-quality products, technologically advanced equipment, and personalized approaches that treat patients as three-dimensional individuals rather than cases. This is exemplified by their standard use of digital dentistry, which replaces outdated gunky impressions with precise, rapid digital scans for nightguards, crowns, Invisalign aligners, and even full-mouth implants, ensuring superior accuracy and faster results.[1][3]

Lumia Dental's team of decorated providers represents the pinnacle of dental expertise. Dr. Rebecca Gutowski, with her Bachelor's in Neuroscience from Tulane University and Doctorate of Dental Medicine with Honors in Community Oral Health from the University of Pennsylvania, brings a holistic perspective to patient care. Dr. Jake Lee, a New York University Biology graduate who also earned his Doctorate from Penn's School of Dental Medicine, complements this with his foundational knowledge in biological sciences. Dr. Michelle excels in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, having presented advanced digital dentistry cases at national levels, while New York native Dr. Monica Lobo, a Board Eligible Pediatric Dentist, specializes in gentle, child-focused care. Dr. Drummond, a Brooklyn-raised provider with a B.S. in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology from Emory University and a Doctorate from Howard University, adds local roots and behavioral insights. Dr. Lydia Gardner's impressive trajectory includes graduation from Harvard University followed by Summa Cum Laude honors from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Bagga, a board-certified Periodontist from NYU Dentistry with an Outstanding Clinical Performance award from his residency, handles complex gum and implant cases. Internationally recognized Invisalign expert Dr. Adam Goodman pioneers orthodontic innovations. Supporting this elite roster are seasoned hygienists like Jacqueline (Jackie), who transitioned from three years as a Dental Assistant to NYU College of Dentistry for hygiene training, and Tatyana, practicing since 2008 across multiple dental fields.[1]

What truly sets Lumia Dental apart from competitors is its holistic integration of advanced diagnostics and patient empowerment. Traditional 2D x-rays are supplemented with 3D imaging that views teeth, gums, and bone from multiple angles, alongside transillumination technology that leverages teeth's translucency for enhanced diagnostics with a fraction of routine x-ray radiation. Partnerships with high-end dental laboratories ensure esthetic, durable restorations like veneers, crowns, and implants that perfectly match each patient's smile. The patient experience is modernized through text, phone, web, and mobile platforms for effortless appointment management, payments, and communication. From a warm reception to customizable TV, music, and treatment plans, every visit is designed to be relaxed and enjoyable, fostering loyalty in a city where convenience is king.[1][3]

Lumia Dental offers comprehensive services, from routine cleanings, exams, and preventive care to specialized treatments in cosmetics, orthodontics, pediatrics, periodontics, and restorative dentistry. Reviews from employees highlight a supportive, non-toxic work culture that translates to honest, high-quality patient care, with management prioritizing work-life balance and professional growth. With a headquarters generating under $5 million in revenue and a staff of around 32, Lumia exemplifies how a modern practice can thrive by humanizing dentistry—treating patients not just as mouths to fix, but as individuals deserving of glowing health and confidence. In an industry often criticized for outdated methods, Lumia Dental's forward-thinking ethos, elite training, and tech-driven precision make it the go-to destination for those seeking transformative dental experiences in Lower Manhattan.[1][3][4][5] (Word count: 728)

I have avoided the dentist for years, i had a painful experience in the past. I finally buckled up my boot straps and booked an appointment here at Lumia dental per a friend’s recommendation. I am SO happy I did!!! Immediately greeted with smiles, made so comfortable by Ernie during X-rays, Yanna performed THE most gentle and thorough cleaning, and Dr. Han was so informative and kind. I love it here. Even had a blast with Agnes at the front signing out. Thank you the most Lumia!

I went in for an exam and cleaning today and was so pleased with how thorough Jackie was. My teeth are noticeably cleaner, and she paid a lot of attention to gum health and gave good advice. It was maybe the most thorough cleaning and exam I’ve ever had!

Is lumia dental the best dentist office in manhattan? Yes. Probably all of nyc in my opinion. Dr. Han and Dr. Drummond are the sweetest, most informative doctors that helped with any anxiety I had about my case. Also Jalil with scheduling is sooo lovely and just an all around 10/10 human.

TLDR: Unless you’re ok with being overcharged by $500 while being treated like a particularly stupid inconvenience, I would not recommend this place. When I became a patient here in 2019, the doctor I saw recommended I use a single Vivera retainer, lower only, to keep my lower teeth in place. My upper teeth had no problems. They came in a box of 4, and a couple years later when they were worn out I was able to reorder the same item with no problem. Fall of ‘25 I called to order a refill of this same product. I spoke with Agnes at the front desk, told her I just needed a new order of the retainers. She asked if I wanted one or a set, and I replied that they had always come as a set of 4 in the box. When I came to pick them up, i was given upper retainers, in addition to the lowers. I said there was a mistake, I had never ordered these, and asked for a refund for the upper retainers I had no use for. Agnes immediately became aggressively defensive, insisting it was my fault for not understanding dentist office lingo, in which a “set” refers to upper and lower retainers. She admitted she had just now looked and seen the previous order in my chart, but “it was a couple pages back”, she clearly hadn’t bothered checking it before ordering. I asked to speak with one of the dentists about the situation. Agnes appointed herself the intermediary, then came back and told me that nothing could be done, no refund. I said that was not acceptable to me, she said she would talk to Dr Han again and call me the next day. She didn’t call. I called back and spoke with Agnes & Dr. Han directly, they both denied any responsibility, insisted I was at fault for not being specific (how is “I’d like more of the exact same thing you’ve sold me twice already” not sufficient?)and there was no possibility of a refund. Then I spoke to Dr. Ali, who seemed annoyed but agreed to refund me for the uppers, which ended up being $500. They expected a patient to accept being overcharged by $500 because their staff couldn’t be bothered to actually check my chart and confirm they were ordering the correct product. I understand that mistakes happen, and wouldn’t have been upset if they had just acknowledged it and worked with me on a solution. But Agnes and Dr. Han refused to accept any fault - they were combative, condescending, and dismissive. I have never had any complaints about their work, but I won’t do business with people who think this is an acceptable way to treat their patients. Would not recommennd.
