About

Midtown Health Center, located at 775 9th Ave in the heart of New York, NY 10019, stands as a cornerstone of accessible healthcare for the bustling Midtown Manhattan community, particularly serving the dedicated workforce of the hospitality industry through its affiliation with the New York Hotel Trades Council & Hotel Association of New York City Employee Benefit Funds. Established as part of a network of health centers designed to provide comprehensive medical care to union members and their families, Midtown Health Center embodies a commitment to high-quality, convenient healthcare that integrates medical services with on-site pharmacy support, setting it apart in a city where time is of the essence.[4][5] The center operates under the collaborative care model, emphasizing multidisciplinary teamwork among physicians, nurses, and pharmacists to deliver seamless patient experiences from diagnosis to treatment and ongoing management.[4] While specific founding dates are not detailed in available records, its presence as a key location alongside sister facilities in Brooklyn, Harlem, and Queens indicates a long-standing infrastructure built to support thousands of hotel workers, reflecting decades of service evolution within New York's labor health ecosystem.[4] The mission of Midtown Health Center is rooted in promoting wellness, preventing illness, and managing chronic conditions through internal medicine expertise, podiatry, family medicine, and nursing care, all tailored to the unique needs of shift workers in the hotel trades who require flexible scheduling and prompt attention.[2][3] Providers such as Dr. Paul Barone, MD, Dr. Fitzroy Elliott, MD, Dr. Arvind Manik, DO, and Dr. Aleksandr Ponomarev, MD, specialize in internal medicine and family medicine, supported by a robust nursing team including registered nurses like Arieta Huseinovic, RN, Diana Penilla, RN, and Iwona Wojciechowska-Roman, as well as licensed practical nurses.[3] This team delivers a broad spectrum of services, from routine check-ups and chronic disease management to specialized podiatric care, all within a clean, secure, and patient-friendly environment praised for its organized waiting areas and plentiful restrooms.[7] What truly distinguishes Midtown Health Center is its unique value proposition as an employee benefit-funded facility, offering specialized care not just to the general public but primarily to New York Hotel Trades Council members, ensuring affordability and priority access through union health plans.[4][5] Unlike standalone clinics or hospital-affiliated practices, it combines medical consultations with an on-site pharmacy open even on Saturdays (8:00 AM to 5:30 PM), a rarity that accommodates non-traditional work hours in the hospitality sector—Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:45 PM for clinical services.[4] This extended pharmacy access, unavailable on Sundays, underscores a practical approach to medication fulfillment without extra trips.[4] Language services in Spanish further enhance inclusivity for diverse patient populations in multicultural Manhattan.[3] The center does not feature onsite parking, a hospital location, or confirmed virtual visits, focusing instead on in-person efficiency in a high-density urban setting.[3] Patient feedback highlights the facility's welcoming atmosphere and security, fostering trust in a neighborhood known for its fast pace.[7] Expertise is evident in the board-certified physicians handling complex internal medicine cases, from preventive screenings to podiatric interventions for foot issues common among standing professionals.[2][3] By prioritizing collaborative care, Midtown Health Center reduces fragmentation often seen in larger systems, providing one-stop solutions that save time and improve outcomes. Its integration with benefit funds like MHAP (reachable at 14 Penn Plaza) streamlines enrollment and administrative support, making healthcare less burdensome.[4] In an era of healthcare disparities, Midtown Health Center sets itself apart by democratizing access for blue-collar heroes of New York's tourism economy, blending professional medical rigor with empathetic, worker-centric service. This dedication not only sustains health but empowers lives, proving that quality care thrives when aligned with community needs. As Midtown Manhattan pulses with energy, Midtown Health Center remains a steady beacon of well-being, ready to serve with precision and compassion.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]

I recently saw Physician Assistant Stella Kwofie and she treated me with antibiotic and some other medicines and she helped me. She was a good Physician Assistant and gave me the care i needed. I user to be a Queens patient but I prefer coming to Midtown Health Center. I have been seeing Doctor Kathleen Fallon who takes care of foot problems over the last 3 visits. She is a very good Doctor and has taken really good care of my feet. Thank you Midtown Health Center. The Pharmacy Department is very nice and helpful to me. The staff is very respectful to me.

I love the Midtown Health Center. I used to receive my care at Brooklyn Family Medical Office but I prefer the care at Midtown. I really like the medical care I receive from Dr. Ponomarev. I love my foot doctor Dr. Kathleen Fallon, she always helps me and she gives good treatment. She even called my previous knee surgeon when that Doctor gave up on me and she spoke to the office on my behalf. I also saw Dr. Baig my Neurologist only one time at Harlem Center and he gave me good treatment too.

She has helped my feet so much. I have been a patient of her for the last seven years. I really like Francisca the new medical assistant. The Midtown Health Center is the best.
