About

Nestled in the prestigious Upper East Side of Manhattan at 800B 5th Avenue, the New York Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery & Dental Implant Center stands as a premier destination for specialized surgical dental care. For years, this practice has been built on a foundation of clinical excellence, cutting-edge technology, and a deeply patient-centric philosophy, establishing itself as a trusted leader in one of the world's most demanding medical markets. The center is dedicated exclusively to the art and science of oral and maxillofacial surgery, offering a sanctuary where complex dental and facial conditions are addressed with precision, compassion, and transformative results. The practice's mission extends beyond mere procedure completion; it is committed to restoring not only function and aesthetics but also the confidence and quality of life that often diminishes with oral health issues. This is achieved through a holistic approach that prioritizes patient education, comfort, and individualized treatment planning from the initial consultation through to full recovery. The expertise housed within this center is its cornerstone. The surgical team is led by highly trained, board-certified or board-eligible oral and maxillofacial surgeons who have completed rigorous years of hospital-based surgical residency. This training encompasses not only dentoalveolar surgery but also anesthesia, trauma reconstruction, and pathology, equipping them to handle everything from routine extractions to complex facial reconstruction. Their deep specialization sets them apart from general dentists or multi-specialty clinics where oral surgery is just one of many offered services. Here, it is the exclusive focus, ensuring a depth of experience and a mastery of the latest techniques that general practitioners cannot match. What truly distinguishes the New York Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery & Dental Implant Center is its unique value proposition, which rests on three pillars: advanced technology, superior patient experience, and a commitment to innovation. The practice is outfitted with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, including in-office Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). This 3D imaging technology provides a detailed, three-dimensional view of the patient's anatomy, allowing for meticulous pre-surgical planning for dental implants, nerve mapping for wisdom teeth removal, and diagnosis of complex pathologies. This technology minimizes risks, improves surgical accuracy, and leads to better, more predictable outcomes. Furthermore, the center prioritizes patient comfort and safety by offering a full spectrum of anesthesia options, from local anesthesia to deep sedation and general anesthesia, all administered by the surgical team itself in their accredited office-based surgical suite. This eliminates the need for hospital visits for most procedures, offering convenience and cost savings. The practice's environment is deliberately designed to alleviate anxiety, with a warm, professional staff dedicated to guiding patients through every step. The center’s specialization is laser-focused on dental implants and associated bone grafting procedures, positioning it at the forefront of tooth replacement technology. They specialize in everything from single tooth implants to full-arch reconstructions like All-on-4® and zygomatic implants for patients with severe bone loss. Their expertise in bone and soft tissue grafting ensures that even patients once told they were not candidates for implants can often receive them. Complementary to this, they are experts in the removal of impacted and complex wisdom teeth, treatment of oral pathology, corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery), and management of facial trauma and TMJ disorders. By integrating surgical skill with advanced digital planning and a compassionate care model, the New York Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery & Dental Implant Center does not just perform surgeries; it delivers life-enhancing solutions. It sets itself apart through its unwavering dedication to specialization, its investment in the best technology available, and its creation of a patient journey defined by trust, clarity, and exceptional results. For those in New York City seeking the highest standard of oral surgical care, this center represents the definitive choice.

My general dentist initially recommended wisdom tooth extraction, so I went to see Dr. Mark Stein for a specialist opinion. Dr. Stein performed a thorough assessment using the latest 3D CT scan and X-rays, and ultimately explained that extraction would carry more risk in my case and was not the best option. His explanation was very clear, logical, and easy to understand, which greatly reduced my anxiety. He took the time to walk me through everything in detail, and I never felt rushed or pressured. Because of his careful and transparent explanation, I was able to make a well-informed and confident decision. I truly appreciate his professionalism and honesty, and I highly recommend Dr. Stein to anyone seeking a knowledgeable and trustworthy oral surgeon.

Incredible. Professional. Friendly. I cannot recommend enough. After working through 2 different procedures with Dr Mark and his team I have no hesitation in recommending. From the team on the front desk who make navigating insurance easy, to Dr Mark himself - who articulates clearly what will happen, what the recovery will look like and how to care for yourself following the procedure, this team are lovely. Special shout out to May and the dental nurses, who are all beyond lovely. I can’t thank them enough for taking such good care of me.

I reflect on my experiences with this office, having first visited back in 2021. Initially, I came in to check for TMJ disorder, as this office specializes in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The doctors and staff were very nice and friendly during my initial visit. A few months later, I had an emergency with a severely swollen tooth causing unbearable pain. Despite arriving before office hours, they were able to coordinate a minor surgery for me right away, which I truly appreciated. However, I hold the Essential Plan by NYS government and was assured I was covered by insurance. After the procedure, while I was still under anesthesia, my partner was asked to pay $2000 for the surgery. He wasn’t informed about this cost beforehand and paid it, unaware of the situation. I only found out about the charge later when my mind cleared from the anesthesia. When I called the office to inquire about the charge, I was told the surgery was covered by insurance, but the anesthesia was not. I requested an escalation to review the cost, and although someone reached out once, I never received a follow-up. While I understand the urgency of the situation, the lack of transparency regarding the charges was disappointing and felt quite shady and disrespectful. It’s essential for the office to clearly communicate costs upfront, especially during emergency situations.

Their terrible. They really want to sell their implant business. Easy cash money. $75 to 100k for implants. That’s really what they love doing here. Easy money extracted from your pocket (if you have it )? Plus $850 to look at you for 15 minutes. Go elsewhere unless you don’t mind parting with thousand of dollars. Oral surgeons ???…hardly. What a joke …
