About

Period Bath Supply Company, nestled in the historic South Wedge neighborhood of Rochester, New York, is far more than a simple plumbing showroom; it is a dedicated preservationist, a curator of timeless design, and a master craftsman's workshop, all focused on the heart of the home: the bath. Founded on a profound appreciation for architectural integrity and quality craftsmanship, the company has established itself as the premier regional destination for the restoration, replication, and informed installation of period-appropriate bathroom fixtures and fittings. Its mission is not merely to sell products but to serve as a guardian of heritage, helping homeowners, contractors, and historic preservationists maintain the authentic character of houses from the Victorian era through the mid-20th century, while integrating the practical benefits of modern performance.

The business operates from a deep-seated philosophy that the bathroom is a sanctuary and a key reflection of a home's era. In an age of disposable, mass-produced home fixtures, Period Bath Supply Company stands apart by championing durability, artistry, and historical accuracy. Their expertise is rooted in a comprehensive understanding of architectural history, manufacturing techniques from bygone eras, and the nuanced needs of maintaining older homes. This knowledge allows them to provide unparalleled guidance, whether a client is undertaking a meticulous restoration of a 1910 Craftsman bungalow, seeking a sympathetic update for a 1950s ranch, or building a new home with classic character.

What truly sets this business apart is its holistic, service-oriented approach. The team comprises not just salespeople, but consultants, historians, and problem-solvers. They begin every project with listening, seeking to understand the architectural style of the home, the homeowner's vision, and the practical challenges involved. Their showroom at 528 South Ave is an educational experience in itself, featuring an array of salvaged and refurbished original fixtures alongside meticulously crafted reproductions. Here, clients can see, touch, and compare clawfoot tubs, pedestal sinks, high-tank toilets, cross-handle faucets, and period-appropriate lighting and hardware. This tangible connection to the products is invaluable for making informed decisions.

The company's unique value proposition is built on three pillars: Authenticity, Quality, and Expert Curation. For authenticity, they source from specialty manufacturers who use traditional methods and materials, such as vitreous china, solid brass, and porcelain enamel on cast iron. For quality, they select products built to last for generations, rejecting the planned obsolescence common in big-box stores. Their expert curation means they have painstakingly vetted every item in their inventory for its historical relevance, durability, and aesthetic value, saving customers from the overwhelming and often inaccurate options found online.

Furthermore, Period Bath Supply Company excels in the complex realm of compatibility and adaptation. They are specialists in helping modern plumbing coexist with old fixtures, offering advice on drain configurations, valve conversions, and wall thickness challenges that are commonplace in renovation projects. They maintain an extensive network of trusted local plumbers, tile setters, and contractors who share their respect for historic properties, often facilitating ideal partnerships for clients. This end-to-end service—from initial concept and product sourcing to technical support and installer referrals—creates a seamless and confidence-inspiring experience for the homeowner, ensuring that the beauty of the past is preserved without sacrificing the comforts and reliability of the present. In essence, they don't just supply parts; they supply peace of mind and a tangible link to the enduring craftsmanship of the past.

Stumbled upon this place and stepped in because I’m curious. I’m so glad I did! I wish I could buy this whole store and give my friends each cute little soap and spa gifts. Alas I am a broke college student. A girl can dream. They have all natural cleaning and bath supplies that you have to get into!! Hand soap refills! Great prices too. Will be coming back☮️

They shipped out a sink and any apprehension I had was unfounded. It was a box filled with eggcrate inside another box filled with eggcrate and it got the job done. The item was exactly as described, highly recommend them.

Item purchased on December 1st and paid for. I was sent the wrong item. Then I was informed that the item I purchased was on back-order until February 10th so I canceled the order. The cancellation was dated December 26th. It is now January 21st and I still don't have the refund and the owner will not refund until the incorrect item is returned and I have been waiting since December 10th for a label with which to return the item. I am the one that has to initiate all communication. NEVER will I do business with them again.

Never open as far as I can tell - Stopped by numerous times during posted hours . Going to spend ( more) money at Parkleigh I guess! And now the owner just sent a reply refuting this ? Then why was the door locked today and it seems every other day I have tried on and off ? This is going from just pointless (for me to bother trying to spend money with them ) To absurd - I wouldn’t be writing this and spent money with them if , the door was not in fact, locked . Why deny the obvious?
