About

Pure Paws Veterinary Care of Hell's Kitchen, located at 506 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036, stands out as a premier veterinary clinic in the heart of Manhattan's vibrant Midtown neighborhood. Unlike traditional veterinary practices that focus solely on conventional treatments, Pure Paws distinguishes itself through its unique **holistic approach** to animal medicine, emphasizing the total health of every pet that walks through its doors. This philosophy recognizes that optimal pet wellness stems from addressing every aspect of their physical, emotional, and environmental well-being, rather than treating symptoms in isolation. Conveniently situated for pet owners in Hell's Kitchen, Midtown, and greater New York City, the clinic has become a trusted haven for urban pet parents seeking compassionate, comprehensive care.[1][2]

While specific founding dates are not detailed in available records, Pure Paws Veterinary Care has established itself as a key player in NYC's pet healthcare landscape, with Dr. Imy Slome, who earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016, contributing to its growth as a local New Yorker deeply rooted in the city. By 2026, the practice boasts a decade-plus of serving the community, evidenced by its multiple locations—including Clinton Hill in Brooklyn and Hudson Square—and glowing patient reviews highlighting its reliability during emergencies and routine visits. The clinic's mission is clear: every pet deserves top-notch veterinary care, delivered through personalized wellness plans tailored to individual needs. This commitment is reflected in their dedication to assessing 'every aspect of a pet’s health' to craft bespoke treatment strategies, ensuring long-term vitality rather than short-term fixes.[1][2][3]

At the core of Pure Paws' expertise is its exceptional veterinary team, led by highly credentialed professionals who blend integrative and traditional medicine. **Dr. Elizabeth Burg**, a graduate of Kansas State University and originally from the Kansas City suburbs, is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist through Chi University in Florida, bringing specialized pain management and wellness techniques to her practice. **Dr. Rachel Barrack, DVM**, similarly excels as a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist and Certified Veterinary Chinese Herbalist, offering cutting-edge alternative therapies that complement Western veterinary science. **Dr. Imy Slome** adds a hometown touch with her Penn training, while **Dr. Katie Wexler** serves as an Associate Veterinarian, rounding out a collaborative team focused on holistic outcomes. This roster of certified experts sets Pure Paws apart, as few clinics in Manhattan integrate acupuncture, Chinese herbalism, and conventional care under one roof, providing pet owners with diverse, evidence-informed options.[1]

Services at Pure Paws encompass **comprehensive pet care**, from routine wellness exams and vaccinations to advanced diagnostics, surgery, and emergency support. Their holistic lens extends to acupuncture for chronic pain, herbal remedies for internal imbalances, and personalized nutrition plans, all designed for dogs, cats, and other companion animals common in NYC apartments. What truly differentiates Pure Paws is its unwavering patient-centered ethos—treating each pet as a unique individual amid the bustle of city life. Reviews praise the staff's compassion, with one client noting how the team accommodated a mobility-challenged owner during a crisis, and another lauding the clinic as 'AMAZING' after a traumatic experience elsewhere, citing hands-on care for both pets and parents.[3]

The clinic's unique value proposition lies in its fusion of accessibility and innovation: extended hours (7AM-8PM weekdays, weekends 9AM-3PM), online booking, and a Midtown location make it ideal for busy professionals. Positive feedback, including a 4.4-star rating from over 600 reviews, underscores its reputation as 'the best vet in town.'[1][2][3] In a competitive market flooded with standard clinics, Pure Paws elevates pet care by prioritizing total health, expert integrative therapies, and genuine empathy—empowering NYC pets to thrive in their urban environments. Whether managing allergies, mobility issues, or preventive care, Pure Paws delivers results that resonate, fostering lifelong client relationships built on trust and transformative health outcomes.

Since I adopted my pup Violet, she has had (quite a few) medical issues going on. This vet has been SO helpful and I have been able to receive help the same day or if not at a reasonable time. They always give her a lot of love and very patient with her. We have been at the vet probably 1-2 times a week over a 2 month period and I can highly recommend them. I saw so many negative reviews from different vets and felt nervous but we are at ease now that we chose a good one!

The level of love and care that comes with the extreme knowledge of veterinary medicine here is wonderful! I have dealt with 2 of their doctors and most recently Dr Liff who removed 3 of my dogs teeth! They care so much about your baby and it doesn’t feel like a cash grab every time I walk into the office! It’s actual care and love for my fur baby! (Which I can NOT say about every vet in NYC) I would give pure paws 10 stars if I could!

I can’t recommend Pure Paws Veterinary Care of Hell’s Kitchen enough. I brought my puppy, Gigi, in during a stressful time, and the entire team was incredibly kind, patient, and attentive from start to finish. A special thank you to Dr. Liff, who was absolutely wonderful. She took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of my questions without rushing, and treated Gigi with so much care and gentleness. It made a huge difference as a pet parent to feel heard and reassured. The clinic is clean, well-organized, and efficient, and the staff truly goes above and beyond to make both pets and owners feel comfortable. I’m so grateful to have found a vet I trust in the city. Highly recommend! Especially Dr. Liff! ❤️

Absolutely love Pure Paws! I started bringing my dog here almost 5 years ago after being frustrated with the care I was getting from my old vet - and I couldn’t be happier that I did! From yearly physicals to emergency injuries to surgeries Pure Paws has always given my dog the best care - they have always treated me and my dog with so much kindness and heart. They are incredibly communicative, wildly knowledgeable, and always upfront about cost. I couldn’t imagine taking my girl anywhere else.
