About

Tend Hell's Kitchen, located at 242 W 53rd St Suite A, New York, NY 10019, represents the latest expansion of Tend, an innovative dental network that is revolutionizing the way people experience dental care. Opened on March 12, 2025, this studio marks Tend's 15th location in New York City and 29th nationwide, bringing its signature hospitality-driven approach to the vibrant Hell's Kitchen neighborhood.[1] Tend was founded on a simple yet profound mission: to remake the entire dental experience, addressing common frustrations such as lack of trust, feeling judged, discomfort, and outdated practices that make visits to the dentist dreaded rather than anticipated.[3] By combining trusted treatments with a non-judgmental team, soothing environments, and delightful products, Tend empowers patients to feel amazing about their oral health not just biannually, but every day—whether taking a bite, telling a joke, laughing, or sharing a kiss.[3]

The history of Tend reflects a bold vision to humanize dentistry in an industry often criticized for its clinical coldness. Emerging as a tech-forward, patient-first brand, Tend has grown rapidly across major cities, with its Hell's Kitchen studio completed in 2024 through collaboration with top design firms like The Lawrence Group (architects) and AMA Group (MEP engineers).[2] This location exemplifies Tend's commitment to creating spaces that feel more like upscale boutiques or spas than traditional dental offices. Sleek, modern interiors balance comfort and professionalism, featuring seamless patient flow, stylish finishes, and a curated ambiance designed to soothe away jitters from the moment patients walk in.[1][2] Under the leadership of Dr. William Ferrante, the Lead Dentist, and Studio Manager Jonell Christian, the team delivers the highest level of care in a warm, welcoming environment.[1]

Dr. Ferrante brings impressive expertise to the practice. Holding undergraduate degrees in Cell and Molecular Biology and Studio Art, as well as an M.A. in Biological Sciences from Binghamton University, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University College of Dentistry in 2021. He further honed his skills with a General Practice Residency at Lincoln Medical Center in the Bronx and has served as an Associate Dentist with Tend for over two years.[1] This blend of scientific rigor, artistic sensibility, and hands-on residency training positions him perfectly to lead a team focused on personalized, comprehensive care.

At its core, Tend Hell's Kitchen offers full-service dentistry tailored to diverse needs, including routine care like dental cleanings and new patient exams, orthodontics, cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening, bridges, root canals, and more.[1][3] Patients frequently visit for services like dental consultations, bridges, and root canals, benefiting from state-of-the-art technology and a holistic approach that considers overall health alongside oral wellness.[3] Flexible scheduling, trusted local dentists and hygienists, and full family dental care make it accessible for busy New Yorkers.[7] Appointments can be booked easily online, ensuring convenience in a fast-paced urban setting.[3]

What sets Tend Hell's Kitchen apart is its unique value proposition: dentistry designed around the patient. Unlike conventional practices stuck in sterile, stressful settings, Tend infuses hospitality principles—think spa-like studios with relaxing vibes—into every interaction.[1][2][3] CEO Troy Bage emphasizes that 'going to the dentist should be something you look forward to,' a sentiment echoed by the brand's modern, stress-free environments.[1] This patient-first philosophy, backed by a leadership team including CEO Brian Bouma, Chief Dental Officer Dr. Chris Salierno, and others, prioritizes empowerment, personalization, and empowerment over rote procedures.[6] Tend's nationwide expansion underscores its scalability, yet each studio maintains a local feel, with Hell's Kitchen perfectly situated between 7th and 8th Avenues for neighborhood convenience.[5]

In a competitive NYC dental landscape, Tend distinguishes itself through its reimagined experience: no judgment, total trust, and delight at every touchpoint. Whether you're seeking a routine cleaning, cosmetic enhancement, or complex treatment, Tend Hell's Kitchen delivers high-quality care that aligns with modern lifestyles. As Dr. Ferrante notes, 'From the moment you walk in, you’ll feel the difference.'[1] This commitment to excellence, innovation, and humanity positions Tend not just as a dental provider, but as a transformative force in oral health, inviting New Yorkers to experience dental done differently. With 15 NYC studios and growing, Tend Hell's Kitchen is poised to become a go-to destination for those ready to embrace their healthiest, brightest smiles in an environment that truly cares.[1]

Tend dental is the most painless, pleasant dental experience I've had! I have major dental issues, missing half my teeth and have had many cavities, abcessed infected teeth and crooked news throughout my life. I got braces as a teenager, but later in life Tend saved me by pulling infected teeth and creating a basic treatment plan and course of action to address my urgent need, and all procedures were pretty painless and all the people I worked with have been totally non judgemental and didn't make me feel any kind of way, which is super important!! They don't take a lot of insurances, or medicaid, but they do take several well known insurances, so if you're able to get it through your job or sign up for one they take, it is 100% worth it. Best dental experience ever, and I've had many! Quick too, but not sacrificing quality. Also, the offices are so calming and clean and receptionists are super nice.

I had a a perfect experience during my dental exam and filling. The entire team made me feel so comfortable from the moment I walked in. Dr. Ferrante explained everything clearly, checked in with me throughout the procedure, and made sure I never felt any discomfort! The filling was quick, painless, and incredibly well done. Highly recommend!

Great experience at Tend! The dental hygienist was fantastic, and the entire staff was friendly, professional, and welcoming. I’m very glad I chose Tend as my provider for dental care and highly recommend them.

Update: someone called me after I left my review to rectify the situation. Which was greatly appreciated. I was able to get my original visit date and time. I had a great first experience at Tend. The hygienist Ruben and Dr. (sorry can’t recall his name right now, last name starts with F) were very thorough and made me feel comfortable. I received a cleaning and filling. No pain or irritation during both. Clean office. I booked my appointment on August 23 for September 12 at 5:30pm. I received a text to confirm and the appointment time says 5pm. I called to explain that I did not book at 5 and asked for clarification as to why it changed. All I received was it says your appointment is at 5pm. I stated I cannot come at 5. The point of me booking 5:30. Told me no 5:30 is available only before or after. If this is my first impression of how this business runs, I will go elsewhere.

While the team is incredibly kind, it’s one of the most chaotic and disorganized experiences I’ve ever had. I am in the middle of Invisalign treatment and, while I’m hopeful my teeth will turn out the way I want them, I wouldn’t recommend this particular office. Maybe other locations are different. My experience has been waiting on the phone for up to 20 minutes and then having to resort to emails that sometimes go unanswered, showing up to a confirmed appointment to have them say they weren’t expecting me (they actually asked me to explain what I was there for that day after I waited 50 minutes past my appointment time), and being given a confirmed appointment only to find out the office is closed that day. I’ve escalated twice and heard nothing back other than an email saying “sorry to hear your experience has not been the best” only to then continue with the confusing communication. I see other fantastic reviews so maybe this is unique to Invisalign or I’m just unlucky, but at this point it feels like time to warn others to try another location or practice.
