The worst childhood dentist I ever had left me with lasting trauma. Even in my mid-40s, I still have nightmares about my experiences. As a result, I will never take my children to see him. My parents never understood my fear because he always made them wait in the waiting room, then behind closed doors would yell or make threats to me-mind you, I was in my kindergarten years. His mother, who was part of the business, was aware of his behavior but did nothing to stop it. I've even needed counseling to cope with the trauma he caused.
