The practice operates on the fundamental belief that everyone deserves a healthy, confident smile, and this principle guides every interaction, from routine cleanings to complex restorative procedures.

The history of Great Expressions is rooted in a commitment to expanding high-quality dental care access. What began as a single practice in Michigan has grown into a network of hundreds of centers across multiple states, including this strategically located New City facility. the office staff was extremely efficient, polite, and patient, they were very helpful in getting me my x-rays emailed to me and explaining the insurance companies non-response. Dentist was very clear and patient and explaining again all the work that needed to be done.

After being a loyal patient at this practice for many years, I was extremely disappointed with my most recent visit and the decline in professionalism and quality of care. I scheduled my appointment specifically with Dr. John Symecko, yet he was not in the office when I arrived. I was never notified in advance, nor was I given the option to reschedule for a day he was available. No one from the office contacted me to ask if I would agree to see another dentist. The appointment began 30 minutes late. While delays can happen, the care I received once I was seen was unacceptable. The dental hygienist failed to take periodontal pocket depth measurements, which is a basic standard of care—especially concerning given my history of needing additional dental treatment. The cleaning itself was extremely rushed (under 12 minutes), performed with a very heavy hand, and resulted in a chipped tooth. I was also not offered a fluoride treatment at the end of the visit. I asked that Dr. Symecko review my X-rays and contact me to confirm that everything was okay. Despite following up with the office manager the following day, I never received a call from the doctor. Based on this experience, I will be finding a new dental provider. Unfortunately, this practice is no longer one I would recommend to anyone seeking thorough, attentive, and high-quality dental care.

They will always call to reschedule your appointment a couple of days before your appointment. Very unreliable. People working the phones have an attitude. Stay away, better nicer places in the area.

I could’ve given them 0 stars if I was able to. Firstly, the lady in the front desk had a terrible attitude and claimed she had called to confirm the appointment or it’ll be canceled but she never called or texted. The dentist that’s in their office doesn’t take our insurance even though our appointment was with Dr John who accepts our insurance but wasn’t in the office. Not to mention the terrible smell the second we walked in, it smelled old and it makes me wonder how the rooms smelled if this was just the smell from when we walked in. I wouldn’t come back.

Horrifying experience with dentist John Symecko. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone, let alone someone I cared about. This dentist intentionally harmed me. He first numbed me, despite this, I was still fully aware of what was happening and what he was doing. He stated he was not accepting new patients despite my insurance stating otherwise. He took a sharp tool and scraped my teeth so hard I have scrape marks in my two front teeth. He shoved my tooth to the point that it is now loose. I had not consented in any way to have any of my front teeth worked on and I left with scrape marks and a bite that is now off because of the immense pressure he applied to my teeth. I reached out to the email provided below with no response at all. Why state that you’re happy to help and refuse to respond or reconcile the situation. Kind words with no meaning or action behind them is simple manipulation and a sad attempt to protect your reputation. You’re engaging in bad business practices, and this is shocking behavior from someone who holds a license in their field of work. And to the hygienist in the room while this was happening shame on you for not saying anything. Sooner or later this type of behavior will catch up to you.
