I’m not sure where to even begin with this review. I had a dental emergency on what happened to be my birthday. I chipped a tooth and was in full panic-mode. I was able to make an emergency dental appointment at the UWS Tend location almost within an hour of the tooth chip. Dentist visits make me anxious in general, so I walked in very nervous. To make a very long story short, the dental hygienists at this location held my hand, wiped my tears, and consoled me when I had a full on panic attack during treatment. I lost my brother pretty traumatically recently and the lights, sounds, and laughing gas/oxygen mask all brought me back to being in the hospital with him. It wasn’t pretty and I will forever be grateful for the team at Tend for taking such great care of me. After a few very long hours, I was met in the lobby of the office by all the dental hygienists and the sweet receptionist who gave me a dozen roses, because it was my birthday. We all started crying together as I burst into tears. I’m still trying to process all of this. This was the first time I have been to this dentist office! Needless to say, my faith in humanity was restored. This review sounds fake and I assure you it is not. I’ve been in NYC for 25 years and things like this have become very few and far between. So thank you seems totally insufficient to the Tend team for all you did for me on a tough day and in a tough situation ❤️🩹.
Used to go to a small, grimy dentist office on the UWS. Then I switched to Tend. This is a game changer! Friendly and professional staff (Therin at the front desk was super helpful!), modern equipment, clean and nicely decorated rooms and ambience. Will come back here, highly recommended!
My boyfriend is very hesitant of the dentist and he had a decent amount of work to be done. They were wonderful at making him feel as comfortable as possible. They worked with him at a pace he was comfortable with. Mary O. his dental hygienist was absolutely amazing and she talked to both of us, laughed with both of us, and was so kind during the appointment even though I was just there for emotional support. I am now planning on also coming to this dentist.
Went for an initial exam:
1. The hygienist was nice but brutally heavy handed (my shirt now has blood stains on it)
2. The dentist spent about 30 seconds looking at my mouth and explained nothing to me other than mentioning briefly that I need a filling
3. I was informed by the HYGIENIST that the dentist said I need an extraction (the dentist talked to me about no such thing)
4. Was informed by reception that I need an extraction and when I asked for more information she had none. I also asked her about the cost of fillings and she had nothing for that as well.
5. I was scheduled for a dental implant (???) along with my filling appointment and only found out after looking on the app.
6. It is impossible to cancel an appointment online (so why have an app??) and no one is answering the phone during business hours.
So you will be torn up by the hygienist, ignored by the dentist, given the run around by the receptionist, and then forced to show up in person to cancel the appointments that were made for you without your knowledge in the first place.
It’s a grift.
Beautiful aesthetics but the shoddy dental work I have had from multiple different Tend locations resulted in many cavities and root canals that could have been prevented with thorough dental cleanings and proactive care. I finally went back to my original dentist and she
asked when I had my last cleaning and said there was a lot of decay when I literally had a cleaning from tend a month prior! Will not be going back. I was swayed by the pretty offices with TVs in the ceilings. Don’t do what I did! Get a real dentist, not a private equity backed chain with recent dental school graduates.
