About

CityMD West 23rd Urgent Care, located at 37 W 23rd Street in the heart of New York City's vibrant Flatiron District, stands as a cornerstone of accessible, high-quality urgent medical care for Manhattan residents, workers, and visitors alike. Nestled just steps from the iconic Flatiron Building and Madison Square Park, this state-of-the-art facility exemplifies CityMD's commitment to delivering prompt, reliable treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, 365 days a year. As part of the larger CityMD network—the largest provider of urgent care services in New York and New Jersey—and integrated with Summit Health, a leading multispecialty healthcare organization, CityMD West 23rd benefits from a seamless care continuum that extends far beyond a single visit.[1][2][4][6]

CityMD's history is rooted in a mission to revolutionize urgent care by making it faster, more convenient, and physician-led, addressing the gaps in traditional healthcare where patients face long emergency room waits or unavailable primary care providers. Founded on the principle that quality care shouldn't require an appointment or a life-threatening emergency, CityMD has grown into a trusted name synonymous with efficiency and expertise. The West 23rd location, strategically positioned near key subway lines (R and W at 23rd Street) and bus routes like the M23-SBS, caters to the fast-paced lifestyle of New Yorkers, offering walk-in services without the hassle of scheduling. Open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (with extended hours on select days), it ensures that help is always nearby, whether for a sudden flu outbreak, a workplace mishap, or a child's unexpected fever.[1][2]

At the core of CityMD West 23rd's offerings is a comprehensive suite of services tailored to common urgent needs. Patients can receive treatment for allergies, asthma, coughs and colds, cuts and wounds, influenza, insect bites, minor burns, migraines, sinus infections, sore throats, skin conditions, sprains and strains, and urinary tract infections (UTIs). The center also provides pediatric care, physical exams, vaccinations, and rapid lab tests including COVID-19, STDs, HIV, strep, and pregnancy screenings. On-site X-rays equip the team to diagnose fractures or other injuries swiftly, while specialized services cover women's health, on-the-job injuries, and occupational medicine. What truly sets CityMD apart is its unwavering focus on board-certified physicians staffing every location—a rarity among urgent care centers—ensuring top-tier medical decisions and personalized care.[1][4][5]

The expertise at CityMD West 23rd is amplified by its unique value proposition: an integrated healthcare ecosystem. Unlike standalone clinics, CityMD's partnership with Summit Health provides seamless referrals to over 80 specialties, from primary care to advanced treatments, all accessible via the My Summit Health app for virtual care, record requests, and aftercare coordination. This aftercare model is revolutionary; post-visit, dedicated teams guide patients back to full health, scheduling follow-ups and minimizing disruptions. Virtual care options allow 24/7 consultations via smartphone, perfect for those unable to visit in person. Patient testimonials highlight this excellence: visitors rave about wait times under five minutes, in-and-out visits within 30 minutes, clean facilities, and compassionate staff who explain everything clearly.[4]

CityMD accepts most major insurances, including Managed Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and exchange plans, alongside self-pay options, making care affordable and accessible. Self-check-in streamlines arrivals, and on-site labs deliver rapid results. What sets CityMD West 23rd apart from competitors is this blend of urban convenience, physician expertise, technological integration, and holistic care philosophy. In a city where time is precious, it eliminates the emergency room ordeal—average waits elsewhere can exceed hours—offering instead a welcoming space where board-certified doctors treat everything from pediatric fevers to workplace sprains with precision and empathy. Whether you're a local grabbing lunch nearby or a tourist stung by an insect in the park, CityMD West 23rd delivers peace of mind, proving that quality urgent care can be as efficient as it is exceptional. This location not only treats symptoms but empowers healthier lives through proactive, connected healthcare.[1][2][4][5][6] (Word count: 612)

This was my first time at CityMD. I was pleasantly surprised. I received excellent care from Anthony Huff and Jaylina. Their skill and efficiency combined with their compassion and kindness turned what could have been a stressful experience into a calm, reassuring visit. No hesitation in rating this five stars.

This place is a No. People playing music out loud in the waiting area. All the staff are like 12. The wait was quick but the entire time I was in the room staff and the "doctor" (because he never introduced himself) never knocked. Then he tells me I have to go to the actual emergency room and possibly pay another 100.00 because they didn't have the equipment to run adequate test🫤

Booked an appointment for 9 AM, and was not seen by a Doctor or PA..ended up leaving at 9:45 as I hadn’t been seen yet. There was no one else in the waiting room with me, and it didn’t appear to be particularly busy. Front desk was fairly unhelpful.

I was misled into thinking insurance would cover everything. Still was given a bill for almost a thousand dollars for one visit even after asking the doctor to confirm if insurance would cover the services provided. Would never visit this place again learnt my lesson to always triple check with providers. At this point, only visit a doctor out of absolute neccessity to avoid paying and arm and a leg.

Doctor Huff was dismissive, and told me it’s just a cold, while I knew it wasn’t right. Went to another urgent care same day and tested positive for Influenza A with fever over 104F.
