About

CityMD West 33rd Urgent Care, located at 5 Pennsylvania Plaza in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, New York, NY 10001, stands as a beacon of accessible, high-quality urgent medical care for residents, workers, and visitors alike. As part of the renowned CityMD network—one of the largest urgent care providers in New York and New Jersey—this facility embodies the brand's commitment to delivering board-certified physician-led treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses with unparalleled convenience and efficiency.[1][5] Nestled near the bustling Penn Station, just steps from the 34th Street subway stop and major bus lines like M34-SBS, SIM23, and SIM24, it caters perfectly to the fast-paced urban lifestyle, offering walk-in services every day of the week without the need for appointments.[1][2]

CityMD's history traces back to its founding as a revolutionary urgent care model in the New York metropolitan area, evolving into a comprehensive network that prioritizes quality over quantity. In recent years, CityMD has integrated with Summit Health, a leading primary care and multispecialty provider, enhancing its aftercare capabilities and connecting patients to over 80 specialties for seamless follow-up care.[3][5][8] This partnership underscores CityMD's mission: to provide top-tier urgent care that starts with immediate treatment and extends through guided recovery, ensuring patients receive the right care at the right time. At West 33rd, this mission comes alive through a team of board-certified physicians who are experts in a broad spectrum of medicine, distinguishing it from typical walk-in clinics staffed by non-specialists.[1][5]

The services at CityMD West 33rd are impressively diverse, addressing everything from common illnesses like coughs, colds, flu, sinus infections, sore throats, allergies, asthma, migraines, and urinary tract infections (UTIs) to injuries such as sprains, strains, cuts, wounds, minor burns, and insect bites.[1][6] Pediatric care is a highlight, with providers well-versed in child checkups and treatments even when a pediatrician is unavailable, making it a family-friendly option in Midtown.[1][6] Diagnostic capabilities shine with on-site X-rays (including chest X-rays), rapid lab tests and screenings for COVID-19, STDs, HIV, strep, pregnancy, and more, plus electrocardiography (EKG).[1][2] Vaccinations round out the offerings, including Tdap, tetanus, MMR, varicella, hepatitis B, and flu shots, alongside specialized care for skin conditions, women's health issues, on-the-job injuries, and occupational medicine screenings.[2][6] Virtual care is also accessible via the My Summit Health App, blending in-person urgency with digital convenience.[3]

What sets CityMD West 33rd apart is its unwavering focus on expertise and patient experience. Every location, including this one, is staffed exclusively by board-certified physicians—a rarity in the urgent care space—ensuring accurate diagnoses and treatments backed by advanced digital X-rays and integrated lab services.[5][6] Patients rave about the minimal wait times, often under five minutes, self-check-in ease, and total visit durations of about 30 minutes, allowing lunchtime visits without disruption.[5] The facility's connection to Summit Health provides effortless referrals and aftercare coordination, transforming a single urgent visit into ongoing health management.[5][8] Open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday through Friday and until 4:00 PM on weekends, it accepts most major insurances, including Managed Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and exchange plans, alongside self-pay options.[1][2][8]

In a city where time is precious and ER waits can stretch hours, CityMD West 33rd's unique value proposition lies in its blend of speed, comprehensiveness, and continuity. It's not just urgent care; it's a reliable partner in health, staffed by caring professionals in a clean, efficient environment. Whether treating a sudden flu, a workplace sprain, or a child's ear infection, this location delivers peace of mind with professional excellence, setting a gold standard for urban urgent care.[1][5] Patient testimonials highlight the exceptional staff—from intake to doctors—who provide clear explanations, respect, and rapid service, making it the go-to choice for Midtown's diverse population.[5] As New York continues to pulse with energy, CityMD West 33rd remains steadfast, ready to heal and support one walk-in at a time.

I was traveling and needed a prescription filled urgently and had very less time for an appointment. I made an appointment online through their website a day before very easily. Went in, sat for around 2 minutes before I was called in. All the staff were so courteous and friendly. Dr. Stefania Jovanovic too was simply kind and wonderful. She answered all my questions without being impatient or condescending. I was worried before the visit about what would happen, but it was such a calming and pleasant experience. The place is spotlessly clean and the support was incredible. Even the nurse who checked my vitals was very quick and efficient. Overall the best experience I've ever had at a clinic.

I was traveling for work and needed care unexpectedly. I dreaded going but my coworkers basically forced me, and I’m so glad they did. This place is what medicine should be. Clean, efficient, respectful and effective. Thank you!

I pass through this area a lot and just wanted to use the hand sanitizer from the front desk. The place was very clean and the lady at reception was friendly and welcoming. Thank you, CityMD is 100x better than Medrite!

I went to urgent care for help and left feeling belittled. Doctor Ngai repeatedly interrupted me and told me to stop talking while I was trying to explain my symptoms. At one point he said, “you are old,” which felt unnecessary and judgmental. We were both Asian, and I had hoped to be seen, not judged, especially by someone who might understand the importance of respect and care within our shared culture. When I touched the area that had been causing me pain for months, something I had just learned was an actual condition, I was sharply told to stop in a way that felt dismissive rather than reassuring. He spoke over everyone, rushed the appointment, and micromanaged every moment while telling me to relax, which was impossible given his intense and impatient tone. I didn’t feel listened to or respected. When you come to urgent care, you’re already vulnerable. This experience left me feeling smaller instead of cared for.

Let me start off by saying that the #1 way to prevent infection is good hand hygiene. With that being said, the nurse or medical assistant that assisted us feel short on the spectrum in that area. Her lack of hand hygiene was unsettling. Let me paint you a picture... She placed on gloves (without washing or sanitizing), took partial vitals, unwrapped some equipment, then walked out of the room, for some time. When she returned, she proceeded to take the wrappings of the equipment and discard it. The garbage was overflowing, so she pushed down on it. I asked her to change her gloves at that point. I trust that due to the level of contamination, none of the results are accurate. I won't be returning. Do better CITYMD. Continuing education is important. And common sense 😉
